My other question on this thread was, do FBs block in the rush game? Like, do they lead block? It doesn't seem to be the case, but is often used in the NFL.

Q1 14:54 1 and 10 to go on own 18, Cristobal Hurst (OC) snaps the ball to Donnell Clements (QB), who hands off to Speedy Rees (HB/C), this seems to be a run over the center, Javier Erickson (DE/R) breaks through, Jody Buck (FB/C) blocks, Kong Fu (NT) tackles Speedy Rees (HB/C), forward progress: no gain (I-formation vs. 5-3-3) more
no classic lead blocking but they can help prevent TFLs Last edited on 2023-02-11 12:11:46 by HH_KMN |

I guess it worked because the DE broke from the left side and the TE is on the right side in I-Formation. I think this blocking FB works only for I-Formation & Wishbone where there are not 2 TE or none. Big I Formation has 2 TEs and both could block. I don't know if for Flexbone works since the RBs are aligned as blocking TEs or mainly receivers. |

Here goes the Flexbone too ![]() 2:57 3 and 2 to go on opp 29, Costin Frunza (OC) snaps the ball to Ovidiu Antohi (QB), Ciprian Cozac (HB/R) gets the ball, he starts running over the right end, Nicky Matthews (DE/R) breaks through, Pedro Laughlin (FB/C) blocks, Ciprian Cozac (HB/R) tackled by Cole Vazquez (OLB/L), forward progress: 6 yards, New first down (Flexbone vs. 5-3-3) |
