Has there been thought to changing the relegation format somewhat to avoid this scenario? I for one, feel that if the system allows for a team to potentially win the Elite Championship (by making the playoffs) and still get relegated, it is truly a very broken system. I have always thought that relegating half of the league has been a bit much, but this kind of flies in the face of all logic.
Couldn't there be 6 or 7 teams relegated instead of 8? Have a one game relegation match where the winner stays and the loser goes down? In this case the winner would make the playoffs and stay and the loser misses out on the playoffs and gets relegated. Or even something simpler like, make the playoffs and you're guaranteed to stay. That year, the corresponding league would only have the champion promoted. I would think there'd be some strong opinions out there on this one. |

I have been relegated at 11-5 in the past. And the Prairie Dogs or I may at 12-4. I am OK with that. First, because I played two bot-like games this season. So the record is not as shiny at it looks like. And also because who knows if next season the two teams in the Seadevils Bowl will not be better than my Ducks?
Finaly, it is way more fun and rewarding to fight till the end for several stakes like we do this season. I would not be against a relegation game btween #3 of the Elite division and the loser of the regional Bowl, but I think I actually prefer the way it is now. |

I'm curious too if the new allowance to change regions will have a levelling effect on this. There will always be some regions/divisions stronger than others, but maybe less of a difference as some managers seek greener pastures?
I don't honestly know how much switching there will be. My feeling is that good managers seek the competition, wanting to test themselves against other good players, but I don't think it'll take all that much movement to even the divisions out a little. |

In the meantime if my Ducks win the last game, it will be the division title. If they lose, they will be relegated with a 12-4 record and still be in the PO. It would be the first time a team gets relegated with such record, but I did see in season 19 a team being relegated at 13-3. ![]() Yeah...I think Toni got relegated back in season 19 in a 3-way tie at 13-3 for 1st place in the NC South. It was all decided by the PD - - before the 60 point cap was imposed. That was a tough division, 13, 13, 13 & 7 wins in the division that season. Fortunately, I had the mighty Yong Mcwhorter to pull me thru. Good luck! Steve SD Blitz |

Just for the protocol: whenever we change the relegation rule to a way more or less than exactly 2 teams relegate per Elite division, it would result in the situation where NOT both superbowl participants of the D1 league coould promote to Elite. This, and only this is the reason we do not care about this sideffect of relegation even if a team is in the POs, but third in its division.

It is what it is. The best team won the division, and then ours were just as good compared to each other. I am sure I will enjoy the new look of the Seadevils division.
Now let’s see if my Ducks can upset SDB three times in a row. ![]() |

Well… I read the score wrong, and doc message also, and though I lost tonight… I was so confused reading your message holly and had to go check the score.
![]() So correction, I do not think the best team won the division as the Mandalorians were that team. And we will have to wait fore the rematch with Steve. Gosh I need more sleep… ![]() |

Wow....exciting Ducks vs. Mandalorians game. For once, a Match of the Day lived up to it's billing.
