Some thoughts, but I am new to this so I would be very happy to be corrected. big part part of the reason for righting this is to check my understanding.

In Shotgun 2WR you have WR and TE on both ends so passing left or right it more an issue that if you can chose which end your WR/TE go - the manual says (Formations table titled "Pickorder on the engine") that the selection is left to right - then you have a better and worse side to throw to as your best WR/TE should be on that side.

You can't overload the defense because the engine won't allow a lopsided formation. Also, the engine picks the defense from right to left (according to the same table) so the best offensive and defensive players should be up against each other.

Hopefully that makes sense and is somewhere near right

Yes, that's on point, and is the same idea Malones was pointing out, and that was getting hashed out in the suggestions thread about a translucent elephant. You can play with (and therefore only have to pay) only one good receiver by throwing only left. And if you like your TEs, in S2, you can also throw middle.
There hasn't been a consensus on the best way to handle defenses reacting to this though.

The only thing I can say about it: when I was introducing Coaches Karma and tried to let it influence the sim engine, I was shot down not only with arguments, but kind of attacks even via PM. Now the commmunity has to deal with the burden out of it. Coaches Karma and the lopsided tactics detection where both flagging this gameplay. Imagine Coaches Karma WOULD influence the engine

To place the fault on" if there was coaches karma" and placing the blame upon all of us who are not pete because of it is cop out and projecting blame.

You are NOT addressing the real problem here...

Looking at the game, the unbalanced offence wasn't the real problem because it didn't work unusually well - it certainly wasn't unbeatable and one could (and I do) argue that the defense on the field did beat it.

The actual issue when you look at the game stats was that the higher ranked offence had plenty of drives, they just couldn't move the ball and therefore score enough points or indeed use up much clock time.

That being the case, Pete, if he should be doing anything, and I am not proposing that he should, would need to sort out the other half of the game and not the half being discussed. That's the Elephant in the room that's being ignored because it isn't eye-catching.

That's my take from the stats anyway.

The success of this QB (on-target with 95/133 passes) behind an OLINE that executed ZERO BLOCKS
Should not happen

In the game that started this thread the QB was 70 of 113 (62%), which is very good under the circumstances of no OL. That said, their passes averaged 4.7 yards and they were in shotgun. Given that WR are much faster than OL, a WR getting 4.7 yards before the DL gets to the QB isn't unreasonable in real life - and IRL the ball takes time to travel so the DL has even less time to reach the QB. We've all seen QBs pass short to avoid getting thumped behind porous OL.

Going for every 4th down was a factor as on average given the numbers they needed to average 3 failures in 4 rather than 2 in 3 to stop a drive.

Only 2 INT in 113 passes is in my mind as interesting than the completion percentage. Also, most of the passes were against a 3-3-5 defense. Do the CB in the 3-3-5 sit off the line allowing more depth on a short pass + run in order to avoid a deep threat. If the engine were going to adjust anything for this game maybe it would be bringing the CB tighter to the line to cut down that early space?

70 completed passes
635 pass yards

Equals 9.07 yards per completed pass
