In Game ID: 101080147, the OC listed at the top on my depth chart (Billy MacPherson) didn't start the game as OC, instead the second listed OC (Dacian Racu) started the game. Any idea why that might be?

The fitness / energy for Billy was higher at the start of the game than for Dacian according to the game stats (99.5 versus 97.9).

Not the end of the world, just slightly confused.

Lakers had first drive. Ended with Punt. Your OC belongs to the Punt return team (STBB)? That play then needs some energy. May be.

Usually, it is one of the following things:

- Player was injured
- Wrong depth chart according to gamesettings
- Player on field already in another position
- 2nd player marked as "first string", but first player is not

Good thought. Unfortunately he's not on special teams and they don't apply to punts according to the manual.

I had a look at those - and have rechecked them.

- Not according to the gamecentre play by play list
- Only one depth chart and I've checked the link. Thought that it might be this before I posted, thought that I'd made a mistake in the order.
- Unfortunately not

I found nothing suspicious in the game log. Do you remember, when you touched this depth chart the last time?

I have touched it since but I don't particularly remember prior to the game. Not later than 90 minutes prior to the game because I was meeting some people at that time and we were together until way after the game finished.

It was a bit odd, but at least it was the other OC and not someone out of position. Probably just one of those things.

Does it save a separate instance of the depth chart when you save the settings for the game or does it look it up in real time? If it's the former then that could explain it as changes to the depth chart could have been after saving settings for the game.

There is no separate instance of the DC. The simulation happens about 45 minutes before the kickoff, takes about 5 to 10 seconds per game, and uses the DC that was saved at that time. So it might be you were changing it after the sim time? If so, the next game using the same DC would run the desired starting OC. Please check if this is a possible explanation.

After all, I consider this part of the game kind of bulletproof, since we ran more than 1.2 million simulations using this DC code.

I'm very happy to believe that this is true, after all, we all do things that we consider inconsequential at the time so don't track them properly in our memory. Given that this isn't a thing that occurs, it's hugely, hugely, hugely more likely to be me than any other answer.
