The Draft is done and we all head into our first league game tomorrow. It’s a good time to look at the Divisions and maybe make early predictions about how it’s all going to go this season, is it not? Let’s begin with the AC Conference:

AC East

The division winner of the last season, the Deflators, and the Air Force Falcons are joined by the Paris Guardians and the Sunrise City Prairie Dogs. The Guardians re-enter the Elite after one season of absence and try not to repeat a one-and-done encounter like last time. The Prairie Dogs join this division for the first time, but have a lot of experience on the highest level through playing in the East of the other conference for a total of 11 seasons before, twice for four consecutive seasons. That would make them the favorite to win this division for me, although I have a hard time wrapping my head around this one.

AC North

The AC North is the home of the Superbowl Winner TigerCats (as if you didn’t know, duh), and they welcome back the Niceville Norsemen and the Idaho Idlers, the latter formerly known as the Lincoln Towncars. Both teams return after just one season in the Fire League. The fourth team is the Glastonbury Grail Knights who had a great first outing to the Elite last last season. With the TigerCats being the Champion and only the Idlers bringing more experience than one season in the Elite it will be a tough second season for the Knights, as well as the Norsemen… although the Idlers are still rebuilding, so who knows.

AC South

It has been a revolving door in this division behind the Peoples Republic of Yorkshire and the Sydney Sea Eagles for the last 4 seasons. This time the Suchdol Minors return after one season of absence as well as the Meguro Productioneers, who have been to the Elite the last time in S47. Of these two teams the Minors come in loaded with experienced players on both sides of the ball and may be a threat to the two mainstays, although their WR-Corps and starting QB could hinder them from making a push to stay when it’s all said and done.

AC West

The BobBoy Magpies sit atop the AC West since S49, with the ChosenOnes behind them for 3 of those past 5 seasons. In come the returning Bracciano Lakers and the Devon Dog Soldiers, both after a break of just one season in the Admirals league. Given the record that the ChosenOnes put up last season of only 5 wins they will have to do much better not to be replaced by the Bracciano Lakers who were relegated in S52 with a 10–6 record, something that still boggles my mind. For the Devon Dog Solders it’s their 3rd chance in 5 seasons to make a splash and fight for the right to not be relegated again directly.

Up next: the NC conference

And here we go with the NC conference:

NC East

The KMN Mandalorians and the Alpin Ducks battle for the crown in this division since S50, but sadly this may be the last time as the manager of the Ducks has expressed plans to retire at the end of this season. Maybe he will go out with a bang. They are joined by the returning Glasgow Tigers who had been in the Elite in S52 and come in with a loaded team ready to fight for staying another season this time. The fourth team is the Constanta Sailors who join the Elite for the first time, at least in their latest iteration as they re-joined RZA in S49. It’ll be a tough experience this season, though, me thinks.

NC North

The NC North is another division in tight grasp of two teams since multiple seasons, as the Dublin Oilers and the Space Kraken have fought for the division title since S51. Returning for the second time are the Hemet Hooligans who had their first shot at the Elite in S49 and already returned once in S52. Another first-time Elite member are the Trnava Saints who come in as the champion of the Monarchs league. Given their lack of experience they are clearly at a disadvantage to the Hooligans as well as of course to the two mainstays, and given the strength of the two veterans in this division it would be a big surprise if one of the two new teams manages to avoid relegation.

NC South

The Bretzfeld Bandits return after 9 seasons in the Galaxy league and have another try to stay consecutive seasons in the Elite. Their roster may just be a little to weak to compete, as seen in their loss to the Hoosier Underdogs in the Superbowl-Game of last season. The latter is another first time member of the Elite and has a great defense which should help to keep them in games. Both teams, though, should be no threat to the ones they join in this division, being the Methuselah of the Elite San Diego Blitz as well as the Zombaes who enter this go-around as Championship Game participant of last season.

NC West

This division is for the Chelt Nam Bobbers to lose. They have been elite for the past 27 season and won the West 23 times. The last time they did not was way back in S47. In other words: They won the division every time since the HAMBURG SEA LIONS joined RZA. The big hairy fish, as the SEA LIONS are known in the Elite, will try to make life hard for them, although the two new teams are forces to be reckoned with, too, as the Baltic Stars and the Brookfield Ukies both come in with strong squads, especially on the defensive side of the ball. It would not be a surprise if the fight for the division title as well as the second place lasts until the end of the season.

And that's it. Good luck to everyone this season

TC is very fast to recover with the appropriate facilities. What could be difficult is to overcome the XP loss on coaching.

Yeah...I'll have a game or two of pain and then I'll be okay. I was surprised I managed to take Oilers to OT given my poor Chemistry/Morale and OL injury.

You’ve always had my number, I’m still not quite sure what it is about the Blitz that I haven’t solved. Admittedly, I didn’t change my scouting from the SC title match, so that likely contributed to the competitiveness of this match.

Losing to a team with a 3.5* rated QB....not a great way to start the season

We were mowed over by the Ukies in the first half and had no higher gear to go into in the second. That's definitely a PB-thing to fix in the coming days...

Congrats to you, nextsheva

Thanks. To be honest, I didn't like that I was forced to rely on my QB given it's his first season as a full-time starter, but he's delivered the best game of his career so I'll take that. 2 early turnovers helped a lot too.

There was a bit of sweating in the end when you seemed to gain momentum and we had our turnover, but then somehow your DL just gave up and we could kill a lot of time just pounding the ball.

But 15 more games to go. Good luck!
