This is from today's Friendly Cup game, 101120541.
9:38 Fraser Grant (K) kicks the ball for the field goal, 22 yard field goal missed 9:36 1 and 10 to go on own 20 The FG is from the 5 yard line + 17 is 22 yard FG. No problem there (apart from I would have liked to make the FG!). From the manual, "If unsuccessful, the opposing team receives the ball at the spot where the field goal was attempted, which is 7 yards behind the original Line of Scrimmage." 5+7=12. So the scrimmage should happen at the 12 yard line. The question is therefore, why does the resulting scrimmage occur at their 20 yard line? |

If the FG is missed from inside the redzone (13 yard line or lower), the ball is place at the 20 yard line. |

Fab, thanks. I didn't see that in the manual but given that it was the 20 yard line, I wondered if that was the case.

Sorry, my bad, if it's missed inside the red zone your opponent start from 20. The NFL has the same rule with the ball inside the Red Zone if it's a missed FG. |

SPOT of the kick is what count, which is 7 yards further from the spot of the down. So if the spot of down is on 9 yard line, kick will be from 16 yard line, so it is a 26 FG try. If missed ball will be placed at 20 yard line since the kick was from 16 yard line. But if the spot of down is on 15 yard line, kick will be from 22 yard line, so it is a 32 yard FG try. If missed ball will be placed on 22 yard line, the line where kick was kicked no matter that the spot of the down was inside red zone. Last edited on 2023-11-22 21:13:36 by Dumbarajko |
