Yeah, it's a bit rough being in the last batch.
I did get a good replacement for my RB position in the long term, since my good old star Lindsay Dunaway is retiring this season. Teamwork on the 19YO is low at 29, but 50 speed already with Track star, 39Strength with no Yellow Mark. and Long distance carrying... Hoping that they can turn into a good starter for me at RB at the very least, but will take a bit of training to get up there. |

That RB was #1 on my list, actually. lol I had only 1 RB on roster and desperately wanted him. Also wanted to use him as KR this season. He has tremendous upside, great pick. Now I have 2 backups that are garbage so I'll be shopping all season hoping to find a suitable backup. There were a few stud defensive players in this draft, but only at positions I'm deepest at. At least I think that's the guy I was looking at.. he had 50 speed, track and distance carry, so pretty sure he was the only one with both of those traits. |

Yep, he was the only RB on my list, his actual skills are kind of lowish, but young, and yeah, if he caps out at over 45 strength he should be pretty darn good for me for awhile. (I also won't let his salary get inflated to 500k like I did with my current RB lol)

Salaries go up way to fast imo. lol
I had two different players go from sub 50k/wk to over 250k/wk this offseason. |

Ah, now you're getting into the subtleties of this game that the really good managers thrive on. Disciplining your training to get the most out of your players for the last paycheck. If you want to get better and better and be successful long term, you have to research this topic thoroughly and come up with a plan to maximize your talent without going on the red. |

Yeah, I feel you... and I already have. I've started doing a few things differently that have helped. And I freed up 2m in space this offseason and still have a competitive team, so from this point I should be able to maintain a stable roster with proper training and development to keep the salary reasonable.

Top drafting tip for you all:
Don't put an unwanted punter at #15 as a placeholder so you know which players you've looked at and then forget to remove him. You will get that unwanted punter lol. It's these sort of top quality management choices that will no doubt see me rise the ranks in no time 🙂 |

But I spend a solid day, scout every player, put in the notes their key attributes and then come back and rank them. Not usually any moving of the board until after each round where depending on who I selected and need changes, I'll drop down positions I don't need for potentially lower ranked positions that I have a higher need for. Unfortunately, when you pick 30th, it doesn't really help much. lol I will be releasing my 3rd round pick for sure. lol He's just a bust, through and through at a position I don't need. Had him rated as my 10th lowest guy, so yeah.. lol But hey, I'm still enjoying learning the little tricks and different ways to win in this game. |

Predict your records!
I have an easier schedule thus far compared to last season, but there are 2 matches I will be a heavy underdog and another a slight underdog so I'll predict Reapers go 13-3, win the division, and make the playoffs again.. with probably about the same results as last season. lol |

Some fun matchups to kick off Fire Season 57! The Braska Bangers v. Glastonbury Knights will be an interesting matchup. The Knights can ill afford any misteps with another set of Knights from Fargo sitting in their division.
The Tennessee Frontiersmen take on those same exact Knights from Fargo. Both teams will want a strong showing out of the gate to stay competitive in their respective divisions. I already discussed the Knights' situation, but the Frontiersmen will need to fend off Zombaes, who start the season with a bot game. With that said, my Fire Game of the Day goes to CardiacJackets v. Aberthaw Dolphins. The Dolphins are coming off a very successful Season 56 and the Jackets are likely eager to see what caliber of roster they can field this season as they continue to retool. This game could certainly have playoff implications down the road as I expect both teams to be frontrunners in the AC, and we are just in week 1! Opening day! Good luck eveyone! Let's go bang some heads! P.S., I open my season upstairs against the 6th ranked Sydney Sea Eagles. I have never even personally seen a 5 star rated player. Well, after scouting the Sea Eagles, I guess I have. Overall rating of 89.7. Can you imagine? It does not get any better. My first SC game this season is the 1st ranked Space Kraken. Thinking of changing my team name to "Welcome" and my username to "Matt". All this to say, I will probably be watching a lot of Fire football this season.
