Can we put in the game settings page an option to at a certain time and score override the 1st string settings so that the starters don't get too beat up and bench players can get some time?
For example, if in 4th quarter, and up 22+ pts (4 scores). |

This raises questions ...
Is it a onetime decision? Like, you are in the lead by 22, and disable the first string thing .... you start shrinking your lead. Is the first string thing going active again once the lead dropped below the setting? Do first stringers bench completely, or do we just remove the first string option and all players become equal in terms of this setting? Benching them completely might result in an insufficient number of players on your DC. Just removing the first string option might result in keeping the top players on field, if their ingame energy is high enough Does this new setting overwrite the "no substition" setting? |

How about this:
Create a sub version of each formation like "Big I - Subs" and "3-4-4 Subs" Instead of the engine looking for the first player at each position descending, it switches to ascending (grabbing the 1st player at the bottom of each position on the DC) This would enable you to edit your playbook (eg. leading by 20 or more, Big I - Subs) and arrange your DC so the scrubs at the bottom can come into the game. As an added bonus this would make the game more dynamic by allowing managers to get creative with their play-calling (eg. "Goalline" using your blocking FB and "Goalline - Subs" where the FB at the bottom is more of a rusher) Managers could still use checks at some or all positions to override for even more dynamic play-calling. I have had this idea for a while and was just waiting for the right post to throw it out there. Any thoughts? |

I hadn't thought about making it permanent, I was just thinking having a line before the lineup is chosen each play looking for that set of conditions. Wouldn't that be easier?

Reading Pete's concerns I am thinking this would actually be easier and would add to the game as a whole. But I'm no techie.

I can't see at the moment how this "Subs" idea would resolve that. |
