I know we have a lot of bots and I see players join to only drop out. A new team that can't compete I think loses their interest in the game quickly. If you are returning from before and know how to build you will keep your interest.
Maybe we should have minor leagues set up like the elite, putting newbies into it were the 2 best in their division get promoted to their league. Maybe have 2 or 3 of these Legues so at the end of the year we could get 4 or 6 replacements. I hear you; bots are no fun to beat but is it really fun to beat a person who just joined 116 to 0 to see him become a bot again. Just thoughts Last edited on 2024-12-03 15:52:00 by wsfjlt |

There were "minor" leagues, in fact many, as there were levels D2 all the way down to D7 in the haydays of RZA. But due to not enough teams they were all closed one after another, the D2 level shortly before you entered the game during rollover from S49 to S50.
We came here and entered in D2 in S48, and even though we had half a season under our belt when we came to D1 (which was somewhat inevitable because in our league were only 2 "real" teams, so we met in the Bowl-game and got promoted to D1 together), the change in competitiveness still was jarring... so it doesn't really matter if you enter the D1 level directly or after one season playing bots. Which is why the "minor" leagues were closed in the end... |

I know, I returned to the game.
I am not saying each league have a minor league again, unless we really get enough to support it. I am saying make it like the elite. One league where each league is tied to a division, like elites and only 2 from that division will get promoted to their subsequent league. We could have league A B and C which would give each major league 2 players from each. My idea is to allow newbies to play other newbies, or even bots as they can be a challenge to learn about the game itself. Being thrown into a major league with fully developed teams, not knowing the ins and outs will cause them to lose interest in the game and leave |

Some time ago I did suggest to have some sort of starter-league independent of the regular league structure, to avoid the harsh difference of power inside a regular league between a fresh team and the matured teams.
The idea was to add something like 10-15 teams to individual league, like college football conferences are, all out of fresh and fresher teams and to allow a switch to the regular league structure after X season or on rollover, doesn't matter. I have to search, whether I can find the original post. The suggestion did not get much attention at that time. EDIT: Found it: here starts my suggestion and then it went on, with no real result Last edited on 2024-12-06 07:03:05 by jack6 |

I think anything to allow newbies to get interested in the game. being able to compete while building, would get them interested and maybe less likely to leave. I see people join and then never return.
Now, if they joined, they were interested in finding more about the game. Question is why did they never play. If Pete has their emails he could ask, a few might answer. But I would guess it was because they could not compete, were confused as to what to do, or another reason. |

As far as I know, the main reason is, they do build an account, take a look and leave because they don't like what they see, for different reasons. Look and Feel, complexity as far as they understood it in that short period, maybe lack of competion in terms of 'only 200 managers?'.
I think the most don't even realize they can compete or not. They don't get that far. Those who stay, make the licence and start doing something are those who might leave in short period, because of lack of competition, but I think 90%+ leave because they don't like what they see in maybe 5 min of taking a look. |

oh, and #1 "excuse" was "way too complex" ...

thank you, Pete. I know that you are always looking for ways to improve the game, or to bring more attention to it. I was just trying to think of some ideas that may have been missed.
