Yes, I know there is a limit and that I should try not to have more than 70 players on a roster come the next training session.
But my question is if dropping those 3 draftees can be completely cost-free, i.e. _not accepting_ them? Or is accepting draftees automatic? I.e regardless if I'd prefer not even take a look at them prior to firing, if that would cost me a penny.

As you can notice from my team's flag, I live in Nepal (+5:45 hours).
Which means the draft (and Training) takes place at a convenient mid-morning time
Thanks for the tip about the Players Trophies' page. I didn't explore that menu item yet |

edit: May be I'll just wait 24 hours rather than spamming you with such questions :-D As far as I know, the players get on your roster, no matter what. Once they are on your roster, you have to deal with them as any other player. They have the basic contract until season end, so firing them will cost you a bit, not too much, bit it will cost you. You can try to sell them, cut them or keep them. If you keep them until next training the limitation rules do apply. But honestly ... 70 players + 3 drafties? Better sort your roster and get rid of whatever is just taking roster space. |

At one moment no round has happened and on the next, the round is done and you have a new player. It's not like NFL draft with time between picks and deals and so on. Just an algorithm doing the pick based on the managers sortings. |

First round got me a DB with good speed and likely OK strength.

The button is also there, when the draft is over. How was it in real time? With so many BOTs in the league even at a very high number of drafting, like 29, or 30, chances are high to get one of the top 5 sorted players. I got this season my #4 pick. Some comments one the QB you selected: - quite old at 22, still you will get 9 seasons (including this) out of him. For a new team, not bad. - INT 50 is of course great, 2 traits also - his str and spe are I hope for you not capped yet. If you scout the QBs of the top teams, you will see, that they prefer a high spe value, say 48+ to avoid sacks. The str is likely for the zip, so the more the better, but not crucial. Usually they have 40+, more likely 45+. That's the reason, why INT 50, SPE 50 players often get sold for a high price. - EXP 4.0 is good, Talent 5.0 is not so important, since you won't train him to 50 soon, because of wage issues. |
