I try to understand trait and effects and somehow i feel some of them are worthless.

I take as example:

Fearsome: Quarterbacks are scared just by this player lining up across from them. Fearsome gives a 5% chance to cause the QB to feel hurry pressure when this player is blitzing, valid for DL or LB

So basic data are:

A LB play around 50 time in a game
Setting for blitz by LB is set at 15%

So this means

From the 50 snap LB is play he blitz at 15% when he has good luck and is chose every time

So this makes 7-8 blitzes by this LB

So now fearsome gives "5% chance to cause the QB to feel hurry pressure when this player is blitzing"

5% of 7-8 blitzes - well this guy already has much luck to be chose for alle blitz opportunity and if ONE TIME the fearsome comes to effect he should buy lottery ticket.

So what is your opinion?

Is i wrong understanding the effect of this trait

Or is my think right and it really seems worthless because just to wait 3 games for this guy to be lucky to have one time effect is definetely too low?

Maybe Admins can also help understand. Thanks for clarification

Admin will stay away from this discussion, just a hint:

It does not mean, a LB gets 15% from 50 plays...it means ON EACH PLAY there is 15 % CHANCE to go for the blitz. This is a difference!

But you know how random works!

When sample number is big enough it equals out

Every play it goes "yes 15% chance - no 85% chance - generate rng 0-100 - decide for 1-15 go blitz for 16-100 no blitz

So by the end it is 15 out of 100 cases the LB goes for blitz it does not make difference.

Sure the difference is:

In one game he can go more times for blitz and in other game he can go no time for blitz

But big sample equal out at the end but only thing is that luck factor again is a huge impact in a game.

But does LB blitzing mean there is a 15% that one of the LBs will blitz...if you've got 3 or 4 LBs, then your chances are a lot smaller even, right?

There is an X percent chance that ONE of the LBs goes for the blitz. Means yes, the chances per LB are smaller, according to the number of LBs on the field

This is how i understand this

and because of this for me from now on the

"chance" traits are nothing i will go for on transfer market or draft

becuase the benefit is so low to sacrifice a player with better other values

thanks for clarification because i got what i wanted

I think Fearsome is not so important for LB, but a good thing for DE, who make pressure to the QB on every play.

It depends

Since i know traits from GLB i understand the writing as so:

#TRAITNAME
Fearsome:

#MARKETING BLABLA WITHOUT EFFECT INGAME
Quarterbacks are scared just by this player lining up across from them.

#REAL EFFECT
Fearsome gives a 5% chance to cause the QB to feel hurry pressure when this player is blitzing, valid for DL or LB

And if i am right you can have all fearsome you can get for free because my QB will only have a nice smile for this dline when skill are not right

Don't wonder, if you don't have success with this strategy...On high developed players those traits are "gold"!

But DE aren't going to be blitzer in the future...so don't you want your fearsome players to be LBs or Safeties.
