Winokurow won gold. Very excycling!

ex-Doper with no remorse or shame, he's the very last cyclist in the peleton that deserves to be Olympic champion. The guy is a disgrace.

Yeah, like Armstrong, Riis, Ullrich, Contador, Pantani, Landis, ...

The sport at all is a disgrace...i dunno what to say about Wiggins and Froome. The last time No 1 and 2 in the Tour de France where from the same magnificent time was Riis and Ullrich in 1996, nice neighbours...lets hope there clean.

lol .... nothing has been proved against Armstrong ... yet. But the storm clouds are starting to gather in a big way, and he has been charged by the USADA.

Ullrich hasn't admitted anything .... yet (as far as I know, but you German guys will know that better than me).

Vinokourov was part of the Deutsche Telekom team when most of them admitted to doping (Erik Zabel, Rolf Aldag etc etc).
Vino was also accused of buying victory in the 2010 Liege-Bastogne-Liege race see here

If Wiggins or Froome or Cavendish were to ever test positive, the whole Team Sky/British Olympic Track Cycling success story would collapse like a house of cards ..... but realistically (and I'm not being biased here either) there has never even been a hint of doping at either Team Sky or British Cycling , whereas at Team Telekom that was systematic organised Doping .... hard to believe that senior officials/managers in that team didn't know of the doping.

To see that Armstrong and Ullrich doped i only have to use my brain...armstrong was IMHO tested positive with a new test on epo using his 1999 TdF blood probe some years ago...but AFAIR there was ne b probe, so he got lucky...for me it is pretty obvious that he isnĀ“t innocent...

Ullrich was adjugded guilty some weeks ago but still keeps saying says he never betrayed anyone...he never said, that he did not doped though.

Sure, sure, i never challenged that.

the managers most probable knew about that stuff...it is pathetic.

But i never heard any rumours about doping in the team telekom until i dunno 2002 or so...the whole festina team was banned from the TdF in 99 cause of doping, but telekom seemed to be clean (to me) in those days. Formerly good guys like Santiago Botero came into the team and had exclusively poor performances. I thougt it was because there was no doping in the team. I was totally wrong.

Let us hope that is not the case with Sky...i just see the coincidence...and in these days i am still very sceptical when it comes to cycling...sad but true

I agree with you about Lance Armstrong .... he's got amazingly good Lawyers... but good lawyers won't stop the truth getting out eventually.

Ullrich makes me laugh (but not in a good way) .... the only person he's fooling these days is himself.

Team Sky ...I actually do believe in. Dave Brailsford is the head of Sky and I think he is very credible..... but the big test is in 10 years time ....in 2022 does Team Sky of 2012,Wiggins,Froome,Cavendish etc still seem credible ? . I hope so.

Dave Millar did it on his own, without the knowledge of British Cycling.
On his comeback, British Cycling said they'd support Millar if he was 100% clean. He's been told he can never ride for Team Sky though, they won't take riders with doping convictions.

It wasn't so bad. The torch was very cool, and I like that each country brought a small piece of it in with them as they entered.

I also like that they actually got 'the next generation' to light the torch. rather than an ex-athlete. It was a very symbolic moment.

Indeed, that torch was magnificent...

The rest of it, a little sprawling, but it had its moments - I cringed at some bits, and enjoyed others. The choice of music was a little patchy.

The did miss an enormous trick though... Enola Gay by OMD was part of the main ceremony music, that should have been on the background audio when the Japan team was announced ... or 'Bonkers' for North Korea
