unfortunately its the nature of the beast so many times we have seen someone come along and blow the world away then its all come about that this person has been cheating all along. But hopefully this swimmer is a freak of nature naturally not a man made freak of nature.

im gonna say this now - and i cant believe im really saying it after my initial reservations.

London 2012 Olympics

Best

Olympics

Ever

Not just because of GB's success either - i just think they have been superb and the rest of the world should take note - especially of the support of events - the crowds have been like at Old Trafford or Pride Park - totally raucous and fair in their support of all Olympians.

We've even had decent weather!!

Well done England - for once you can truly hold your heads up high.

Well done.

No surprise that your fans have been wonderful to all competitors.

+1

Several of my family members went to see some events, and they said the atmosphere was unbelievable. They also said the organisation (transport/volunteers/security) were perfect.

Sadly work stopped me from going with them, but I've been glued to the TV/radio/PC screen - it has been astonishingly good. In particular, the BBC coverage has been the best I have ever experienced - EVERY second of EVERY event live via digital TV channels.

.... and possibly Team GB's biggest fan.... my wife's brother has spent every penny he has on tickets and travel - he has been to 17 events, and witnessed 5 GB golds - he was in the stadium for Mo Farah/Jess Ennis/Greg Rutherford - he saw Wiggins take gold in the cycling, and was cheering the Brownlee brothers in the triathlon - he was also there on Thursday for Usain Bolt in the 200m final... so so so jealous!

even the non ticketed events like the road race have been really well supported. I must admit we have done a great job. They were comparing it to 1984 in LA when less than 2000 people watched Carl Lewis in the 100m heats yet here there was 80,000.

The coverage has been amazing about the only time that the BBC has ever been able to match what sky sports would of done

I *hate* Sky Sports....

- I hate the money making machine that Premiership football has become
- I hate them for taking cricket off terrestrial TV
- I hate them even more for taking F1 too
- and I hate them EVEN more for not taking Wimbledon - please - swap you cricket for tennis Mr Sky

They cant take Wimbledon because the toffs have left it as the crown jewels. The grand national being another.

I cant stand murdoch but sky sports has made the rest of the broadcasters wake up and start to give us some half decent coverage. The olympics being the prime example. Would we have had the coverage we have had if it wasnt for sky? I very much doubt it.

Totally agree with this - it has been amazing presentation - they have got the presenters bang on - the right mix of knowledge, experience, humour and emotion - John Inverdale's interview of those two rowers who finished second couldnt help but bring you to tears.

I also liked how with every event they went through the event in terms of what happens, what to look for, what the qualifying procedure is and a website to go for more information and local areas where to take part - that is really how GB will get added value from this Olympics.

I think our support will stand us out from the rest - its just a shame that today is the closing day.

What is important to bear in mind is that so many of the anchor presenters have been largely out of their comfort zones - Volleyball, Handball, Martial Arts, Sailing, etc - you just don't see them on the TV here in the UK very often - so the way Balding/Inverdale/et al have adapted is testament to how good at their jobs they truly are.

And I sincerely hope the viewing figures have been decent for the 'minor' sports, so the media obsession with 11 prima donnas vying for acting glory is in someway undermined.

I've been watching athletics, judo, taekwondo, boxing, rowing, sailing, BMX, swimming, cycling.

Football? I saw 45 minutes of Team GB women against Cameroon. Tennis? Sorry Andy Murray, nada. Basketball? not a single second.

And it's that choice of viewing which has made the games for me!
