What an amazing Thriller in Oklahoma!!

The Outlaws were a 2.6% underdog against the Lucentum Penguins and kept the game open with a stout running game out of the Pro Set while also playing solid pass defense to shut down Penguins QB Doménech. Going into the 4th quarter the game was tied at 14. Drama was about to ensue.

First Lucentum punted from the opponent 14 Yard line instead of taking the easy FG with 14 minutes to play. Head Coach Okorie declined to comment on the playcall.

Then, with 3 minutes to play, Doménech threw his second pick of the day, and the Outlaws were able to get a few first downs, ending up with a 1st and Goal at the Penguins 4 yard line with 1:20 to play. But instead of trying for the gamewinner pass, they ran the ball (and the hence the clock) three times! The Lucentum goal line D held up and stuffed all three runs, and Oklahoma had no time left to kick the game winning FG as the game headed to ... overtime!

And then it was Efrain Herrera time. He converted three crucial third downs that allowed the Outlaws to kick the game winning FG after 6 minutes of ehausting overtime play - and a stunning victory against a superior opponent.

The Outlaws will need victories like that to finally reach the playoffs for the first time, since they play in arguably the toughest Division of the Thunder (with Landru and Budapest). The Penguins, who have never lost more than 1 regular season game in the history of the 1.1, starting out with 2-1 must be a bit of a shock. They are of course still favorites to win their division, since Chicago had a weird collapse against the Wild Thangs, losing thouroughly with 3-32 as a 2.1% favorite, and Green Bay is still rebuilding, but they don't quite look like their former self, a team that usualy had a lock on a first round bye. Interesting times ahead.

In my defense I'd say I'm trying to pass the ball a little ball more often than I did these past seasons, so I'm not gonna be as competitive as I've been, if I've been ever competitive

Regarding punting so close to the endzone, I had my K injured and no replacement for him so far (there's one youth in the Academy, but he's not ready at all to play with a 40 something % of PC ), so I'd adjusted my kicking to <25 yards

This season is your best chance, barbados, I'm not planning of running much the ball because I don't have enough RBs, they'd be already tired before halftime doing so I guess, and without QB and WR ACs... sounds like a bad season for the Penguins, my attack is a joke

Well, half my team either retired or didn't resign, so this is not the season for me. Major rebuilding is under way. I'm hoping that I will be back to being competitive in season 7. This season and next, will not be pretty.

And change your avatar back to the penguin. I am use to cursing him out and not the kid.

The last two weeks were again filled with intersting results:

Week 4 saw Pittsburgh upsetting Guisborough 24:17 with a nice passing attack of 4.4 YPA. After losing two of ther first three games by a total of 5 points, I guess it was finally time they win a close one - and against a superior opponent it might just be the kickstart their season needed.

But the big storyline of Week 4 was the AC East: The Juan Renegades defeated Békéscsabai after being down 0:10 in the first quarter. They turned around the game in the second half to win 17:10 and are now 2-2 against opponents who went a combined 40-24 last season. Even when they lost against big favorites like TEC or the Patriots, they never got blown out, which really is an amazing start to a newcomer season. They could be a new power on the rise in an already loaded AC East.

Another surprise also happened in the AC East when the Patriots defeated TEc for the first time in their divisional rivalry. Rosario was a sensation as a newcomer last year, riding a fairly easy schedule to a 10-6 record and an amazing playoff appearance that needed OT to get settled, but they never threatened TEC and ended up five games behind them. This year, it seems they closed the gap. The AC East is wide open with two wins being all the difference between first and last place.

Week 5 saw Canco defeating the General as an underdog, which gave Purdue a nice chance to close the gap and tie their record. Unfortunately Purdue ist still a bit inconsistent and lost 7:24 to China Chimp, for whom it was their first victory as a newcomer to the 1.1. After losing close to Slavia, this is their second serious statement, and since the play in an very open NC North, who might still be the weakest division in the league (no team above 45%), they could make a run for the playoffs now if they continue the way they played last week.

In half an hour we head to week 6 with a lot of cool matchups... will Juan upset the General? Can San Diego take over the second spot in the AC North by defeating Purdue? And will TEC get back to old strengths against Canco? We'll see, we'll see...

And the surprises keep coming!

Hastings beat the Bavarian Bratwurst to take the lead in the NC North, but the real killer was newcomer China winning their second game in a row, after upsetting Purdue last week they defeated a true Bowl-Contender in a FG battle 12:9 against Lucentum. There is now 1 game between first and last place in the NC North.

The Juan Renegades did not upset the General but they played him down to the wire in a 13:9 thriller. And TEC continues its struggles with a 15:21 loss to the Hunters: A 4th quarter 80-Yard-TD Pass by Bob Landis solidified their playoff chances. Landis was 3 of 8 on the day, and 2 of his 3 completions were TDs.

Next week brings us the big Argentinian Derby: The General beat Rosario twice last year, and the OT-Thriller in the playoffs was for the ages, so this game is loaded with emotions. Since TEC is struggling and Rosario already beat them, they probably feel that they can take the division this year, so they will be extra motivated. The General will probably not face any real threat inside his own division, but they lost two games so far outside of it and they wanna be sure they are competitive when the playoffs come around. Who knows, they might just meet those same PAtriots there again, so this game next week could be crucial for the whole year.
