Meanwhile, my team, Derby County, go 4-1 up and then 5-3 up into injury time....but somehow manage to concede 2 to get it back to 5-5 as the ref finds 7 minutes of extra time.......and we lose 9-8 on penalties.....all to the mighty Scunthorpe in the first round of the Carling Cup. Gonna be (another) looooooooong season......

I wish we were still at the good old BBG...16,000 people in that stadium generated much more atmosphere than 35,000 at Pride Park or most of the new, so called improved, stadium.

I'm good friends with Ed Dawes, the new voice of Derby County at radio Derby... we played for the same cricket team for a number of years.

fair play...hes a lucky guy to have that job. Still, he will take some doing to surpass Graham Richards, who commentated on Derby via Radio Derby from the mid 70s to about 7/8 years ago id guess...he was an awesome commentator with a fantastic command of the English language, and he used to get so carried away - especially when we scored against or beat Forest....

Highlight of the week:

Seeing Felaini's fro bouncing at Goodison Park!

I could never tire of watching Man Utd lose. It's always beautiful.

They looked pretty inept - Rooney was, as fairly usual, shocking and Nani even worse.

Their new Japanese buy (Kagawa?) looked good though - i just think Everton were fired up for it on the night though and Fellaini had a career game - but they are a decent team and will beat many more teams than they lose to - could be a good shout for 6th place IMO. United will be fine and are still the team to beat to win the league.

Everton has a nice starting 11, their problem will be once injuries and suspensions kick in later on in the season.

Kagawa looked alright, but I think that more about picking the least worse performer on the night for Man Utd. They really were shocking. I don't know how Scholes was still on the pitch at the end, his tackling was atrocious.

You can never doubt Fergie. Year after year, they are always up there. I think they've got a weaker team this year (but then I remember that they have a 30mill striker in Berbatov not even making the squad!) and realise they are better on the pitch than on paper.

Arsenal won't be anywhere near, and Chelsea dont put teams away like Man Utd and Man City. They are happy defending a 1-0 lead which leads to a few extra draws.

I have it between Man Utd and City again, with Chelsea knocking on the door if Torres finds form.
