Happy enough with mine, got a speedy Gunner (already moved to CB), and a strong/intelligent QB as my backup is retiring.

The 3rd player, another QB - well with 94th pick I get what's left - I won't get much money for him, but with 50 Int and decent vision I can train him up to fill a hole in the defense in 1 season.

They also make OL if you train up their blocking as they tend to have good physicals, and good vision already

this seasons draft:
two qb, not the best skills, they must go to the traningscamp for a few month before they help the team

one sf, with high intelligence, he ist now a lb, may be he can help us may be not

i think not the best draft for my team, we must cook "kleiner brötchen" this season for a better position in the draft-lottery

My situation is similar. But at least I got no RB, no QB and no K/P in the last pick, so not that bad.

Well, I got them...
A nice backup RB, a nice backup QB and one of the 2 Punters (would be a nice one, but w/o urgent need he will go for a still pretty good DT).

Round 1 - CB 45 Speed + Track Star
Round 2 - DL 38 Strength, 38 Speed + Heavyweight
Round 3 - OL 39 Strength

I'd wanted OL and DL, and now the league is going to be more pass oriented am happy (and a bit surprised) to have got a respectable DB. Couple of other positions I would also have been happy about had they come up, but this will do me just fine.

For those who ended up with lots of QB - the basic rule is if you don't want a player at a position, drop them to the bottom of your draft board. I learned a lot from considering Buffalo's stinging criticism of my draft last year (guys - he rated me an F last year and no one else got lower than a D-, so don't feel too bad) Whilst he pissed me off, it did make me focus on what I wanted this time out - and mostly I got it.

A second rule -especially next time out when it is free to do so - is scout every player (thank you Buffalo). The automatic sort option by talent rating is a waste of space. I relied on that in Season 4, and that got me an F grade! When you research players you find that what the computer thinks is important in ranking players with identical star ratings is not a true reflection of reality

I stuck what I saw as pure quality in the top 8 of my board (i.e. I thought I probably wouldn't get 'em, but if I had a shot I should take it) and then from 9 through 32 I put players in key positions, ranked in order of the position most important to me, and then the quality in that position. I did a bit of a jig (e.g. I wanted an OL, but the worst OL wasn't worth more to me than the best DL) and settled.

It mostly worked according to plan.

I picked relatively late in each round (24th) but even my 3rd round pick was 25th on my Draft Board. Whether he was good enough to go that high on my board is a valid question, but I wasn't expecting to get both of the two defensive players that I'd put higher up on the board, and had hoped for a good OL in the first two rounds - turns out my second round pick - who had been relatively high on my draft board, was still there come the 56th overall pick. Based on my board I expected 1 offensive player at a skill position, an OL, and either another OL or a defensive player. It didn't quite work out, but my two defensive players are instant starters - so I can't complain.

I'm not saying that I had the best draft around, but I had a respectable one picking 24th overall, and I certainly won't get an F this time (E- maybe!!)

It seems like most of us arent too happy with their selections... and I'm no exception. Gentlemen.. I only scouted up to number 76 on the draft board (I swear I thought the draft was on the 9th.. and I dont know why I thought that)... so theres no telling who I left at the end of the table...

My first two picks are indeed nice... I had to sell LB and OL draftees this past season and I drafted nice ones to fill their spots... but that second OL i got.. he sucks bad but is immediately the second best OL i have...

Im giving myself a D before Buffalo can even say anything...

The TM is buzzing with draftees but I hope none of you get any!

(Jealous poor onlooker)

And my draft was pants probably...

But then again I only had 3 players of draft quality in my team before it so the DL and CB will slot straight in. Just a shame I spent $80 on a QB just days before the draft but with the 3rd to last pick in 2.1 draft class you have to take what you can I suppose.

yes, everyone is looking forward Buffalo's scout certification

Indeed thanks detailed guide, I used a bit different approach with sorting.
In terms of scouting I did scout all of them, but not have time to go through. So I took positions, which were important for me and also similar positions (like CB,SF,LB,DL) and these I studied carefully. The rest I did sort based on age, rating and roster needs.

The result, I have, is fine for me.

So many managers are waiting for my truculent judgment!

I will try to find some time this weekend to make the draft analysis.

Difficult to find time, what with the open topped bus tour of the city for the victorious team and all that. . .
