I heard yesterday. The guy was a comedy genius. A sad loss to the world of comedy that's for sure especially with some of the tripe we see on the TV now

Ditto...

Late to hear the news myself due to work.
It's amazing how you feel the loss of someone not related but who's been a part of your life and you've grown up with. I'm not sure his talent was recognized Globally, a great loss, but NO CRYING. Laughing your bollocks off at his funeral is allowed......He wouldn't have it any other way.

Loved a quip I read the other day. (I'm not saying it's 100% true).
A few years ago he had a quad bike accident. After being informed he'd been in a coma for 5 days, when he came round he said "Yes! I beat Jesus. He only lasted 3 Days."

The funny stuff is obvious so I'll go with this, and also put it pride of place in a new post.

Totally agree Razor.

I've 'lived' with Rik Mayall right from the young ones to bottom to the new statesman to cameos in black adder to his bombardier beer adverts and he has never ceased to stop making me laugh. Quite often he doesn't need to say anything to get a response.....he is just genuinely a side splitting funny guy.

There is a pic of the opening sequence in Bottom where Ade edmondson is on the bench and Rik has disappeared which was funny at the time. Quite poignant now with Ade's words on hearing about Rik's passing.

Terrible loss of a comedy giant. Desperately sad. Luckily though he will never be forgotten.

He could be mentioned in the same breath as Rowan Atkinson.

That just about sums it up.

Fully agree - and id include them both alongside John Cleese
