First I thought an injury triggered his snaps, which is a frequent cause of unwanted snaps for a player. But you did not suffer an injury at your DL in your last game.
However, he always played NT in the 5-3-3 when I found his name and that makes perfect sense. Remember the order in which players are set on the field from the depth chart: help>>manual>>formations (scroll down to the very end 5-3-3 der del dtr dtl nt mlb olbr olbl cbr cbl fsc so 4 other DL positions will be filled from the depth chart before the NT position is filled. My guess is that you have maximum 4 players at NT at your depth chart (more likely just 3 or 2) and that those guys were already assigned to play DE or DT. So the engine had nobody left to get from the depth chart and picked the guy by himself, not always the best idea for your team

also remember that the engine does fill the roster gaps up to 55 if you have less configured.
That way some players get on the game roster and with special playes, injuries and maybe exhausted players the engine gets creative once there is no one left to send in. |
