Dear RZA managers,
I would like to discuss a friendly cup concept. RZA currently does not propose a national team feature and it is not on pete's agenda. Yet I know several of us would like to have a country event. This is why I come with this idea. The idea would be to create a Sunday16 teams cup, in normal mode, gathering the best team of each first 16 countries showing up in the ELO ranking. I know the ELO is not perfect, but it is the best tool we have right now. So the 16 first teams would receive an invitation. If they accept it, they are in. If they deny it, the second team of the country would receive the next invite. Right now, the cup would gather: Qualified Teams: San Diego Blitz - USA 🇺🇸 => Would participate Baltimore Ravens - Italy 🇮🇹 => Would participate Salt City Pirates - Germany 🇩🇪 => Would participate Chelt Nam Bobbers - UK 🇬🇧 => Would participate Helsinki Gangsters - Finland 🇫🇮 => Declined the invitation Free Agent Mascots - Hungary ðŸ‡ðŸ‡º => Would participate The Masked Ducks - France 🇫🇷 => Would participate AS Roma Wolves - Czech Republic 🇨🇿 => Would participate TigerCats - Canada 🇨🇦 => Would participate Willemstad Bridges - Nederlands 🇳🇱 => Would participate Marife-Lacion - Spain 🇪🇸 => Declined the invitation Istanbul Whitings - Turkey 🇹🇷 => Would participate Växjö Gladiators AFC - Sweden 🇸🇪 Wolflings - Australia 🇦🇺 => Would participate Green Mark Packers - Austira 🇦🇹 => Would participate Dumbarajko Elephants - Serbia 🇷🇸 => Would participate Qualified Back-up Teams: Sønderborg 84-pounders - Denmark 🇩🇰 Maykop Dynamos - Russia Registered Teams: 1/16 Back-up top manager - new countries: vamosahi - Spain 🇪🇸 Rio Stars - Brazil Draft Busts United - Micronesia Trnava Saints - Slovakia Pitcairn Bounty Mutineers - Pitcairn Islands Xu Da - Hong Kong AB Misawa Stars - Japan Poznan Knights - Poland Totoras Patriots - Argentina Lisbon Seacrows - Portugal Andorran Castellers - Andorra Back-up list: DC Washingtonians - USA Social Distance Runners - Germany => Would participate BobBoy Magpies - UK Motol Ducks - Czech Republic Bracciano Lakers - Italy Lyon Eagles - France Basterds - Austria vamosahi - Spain Burnaby Bruisers - Canada Tilburg Torpedos - Nederlands Devon Warriors - Serbia Novosibirsk Lions - Russia Óbudai Egyetem - Hungary Barossa Bulldogs - Australia I did group all countries from the UK under one banner and I considered Pete's team as German. And for example if San Diego decides to do not participate, DC Washingtonians would receive its invite. If the Pirates rejects it, it would be for the Runners and so on. However if Willemstad Bridges rejects it, the invite would go to Maykop Dynamos which ranks higher than the next Dutch team but is the first Russian team. Ideally the cup would start in the early season 42 after the Collosevm cvp finishes. The ranking would be stopped after the S41 Elite Bowl. The RZA Team World Cup would take place every 4 seasons. If neither you nor I meet the requirements to qualify for the cup, can you create it without any of us playing it? If not, I guess I would count your team outside of Germany making you qualified basically at every edition (and I would be OK with that). Tournament setting summary: 16 teams play in 4 groups, the best 2 teams per group proceed to KO round Registartion costs per team: 30 credits Maximum matches per team: 6 Winning team gets bonus: 177 credits Runnerup gets bonus: 88 credits So? What do you think? Last edited on 2021-02-05 07:24:15 by Kanar |

Lets see where this leads to. I can handle friendly cups without me being part of the tournament, as I did for IECC

Awesome. If people likes it I can manage to contact « qualified managers » for the invite (and eventually before to warn not to start a new cup approaching the event).
And if the motivation is less than expected, it could work on a 8 teams cup. |

The idea sounds good. I have been thinking on a similar idea but based on "achievements" during 4 or 5 seasons (e.g. Bowls, Conference, Division titles). The nation thing looks more attractive.

This looks great. Now I just have to get past the Pirates or somehow get him into another’s tournament...

I would play...but I think DC Washingtonians is probably a better team at this point.
What about a 16-team friendly cup...take 4 teams from each of US, Germany, UK and everywhere else. Put one team from each country in the various division and then see which countries can compile the most wins. Steve SD Blitz Last edited on 2020-12-26 05:58:01 by Solana_Steve |

I really like one team per country. It’s a little bit like basketball in the olympics. The US could probably have 3 teams and get 3 medals. Yet only one plays. We can also see it as a reward for durable strong performances which is the sense of ELO ranking. That’s also why we would play the cup every 4 seasons, to let the chance for the ranking to change. There is also the option to deny the invite to let a stronger team play. This could even be discussed on the forum or be subject to a vote from the top managers in the country. |

Those are valid options! The Friday tournament would be easier to organized as many are already engaged in friendly cups.
