The organization committee was very busy outside the actual games that were played today, and the proper announcement for them was missed due to some intense negotiations on property rights*.
*aka playing Monopoly with the kids Both games were played at the same time, which leaves us wondering about the mythical ark stadium being unique… or where the mysterious person taking the photographs has been. We sadly haven’t heard from him or her since the incident with the bear. Hopefully this particular adventurer is still safe… or at least alive. We’re rooting deeply for new material. What we were presented in the games was nothing short of remarkable, and I don’t recall both games in a semi final round of a friendly cup being being within 4 points. We’ll dive deep into both match-ups tomorrow |

The holiday season is upon us, and many of the humans are in somewhat of a frenzy before it all quiets down for a few days and they finally can enjoy some quality time at the end of the year. The animals don’t know this kind of stress, as they don’t have special times of the year where they relax. They do it when it’s needed, as they know that the time to give everything comes soon enough and it’s of no use to go into demanding obstacles unrested.
Yesterday was such a time when every bit of energy was needed, and each individual of the teams involved delivered in the match-ups that were played on Game Day 5, the semi final of Animal Kingdom II: BobBoy Magpies 17:21 HAMBURG SEA LIONS Even though this game was played with high energy on either side, concentration was slightly absent with both teams. The QB of the SEA LIONS was intercepted twice on their first three possessions, and the Magpies converted both pick to touchdowns. Then the QB of the mischievous birds returned the favor and gave the ball to the home team, which also lead to a touchdown early in the second quarter. It got wild just before the half when the QB of the SEA LIONS threw his 3rd interception on the goalline of the Magpies. Only 4 plays later the second round pick of this seasons draft picked the ball for the SEA LIONS back again, and this time they converted, to make it even 14:14 going into half time. After the half it continued to be a defensive battle, with the only score of the third quarter being a field goal for the Magpies. They could have gone up one more score after the fourth interception by the SEA LIONS QB, but the bird kicker, who had missed a 50 Yard FG early in Q1, missed his second one from 24 yards out. In Q4 the SEA LIONS finally put together a clean 13 play 75 yard touchdown drive that took 7 minutes off the clock. The Magpies got the ball two times in the final 8 minutes of the game, but were stopped both times by the pinnipeds. Their final try to score on 4th&3 with 52 ticks to go from the opp 27 was a shotgun pass where they all flew up the field to the endzone of the SEA LIONS, but the QB was not able to connect. And thus the SEA LIONS won and move on to the final game. Willoughby Wookies 31:34 Sydney Sea Eagles Like the other game this match-up has been played before in the group round of this friendly cup, which the Sea Eagles won, and the QB of the Sea Eagles wanted to make sure that it would turn out the same way again by throwing a daring pass on the very first play of the game, just to be picked right away, with that granting the Wookies their first touchdown 2 plays later. The big bad birds got it together pretty quickly, though, scoring a touchdown after a long drive and again after a 70 yards rush where the half back flew by every Wookie on the field. It took a while for the Kashyyykians to get going, but they were able to limit the onslaught in the second quarter and to score a touchdown in the final seconds, going into the half down only 17:24. They won Q3 by stopping the Sea Eagles again and again, even forcing another interception by the opponents QB to turn into a touchdown. And when they scored another tuddie to take the lead in the game for the first time AND stopping a 4th down try by the majestic birds with 6:40 to go in the game, it looked like the Wookies, similar to the SEA LIONS in the other game, were able to get revenge for the group round loss earlier in the tournament. But then the QB of the Wookies threw a costly interception on the opponents 38 yard line which the Sea Eagles converted to a touchdown, going up 3 points again. Even though the Wookies still had 4 minutes to score a FG to tie the game their offensive coordinator decided to let the QB pass on every down on the following possession, which made it easy for the Sea Eagles to defend, sacking him on first and second down and ultimately picking him off on 4th&24 from the own 27 yard line of the Wookies. Through that the reigning champion secured the victory in this game and made sure that they will indeed return to the final game of the Animal Kingdom Friendly Cup to defend the crown. |

Maybe we plan the next Friendly Cup a little better, because even though it is at the height of it's excitement, coverage is quite low due to the holiday season in the land of the humans, and we cannot absolve ourselves of having given in to the beautiful and seductive things in life in recent days. Which led to a lesser amount of time in front of any kind of display and WAY fewer thoughts about things that are part of everyday life rather than relaxed leisure time.
But it is the final game day today of the Animal Kingdom II, so let's have a quick look at the match-up before it starts at 1800pm: HAMBURG SEA LIONS @ Sydney Sea Eagles Throughout the tournament the Sea Eagles from Sydney have shown in an impressive manner that they are the current Animal Kingdom champ and will fight hard to defend the crown. They came out of the group round undefeated and left two more opponents in the dust during their playoff run. The last team to win against comes to their home today, and they have a flawless record against them, too. They met in the first Animal Kingdom Cup in the semi finals when the SEA LIONS from Hamburg had to visit the Sea Eagles, too, and the visitors left with a sobering result of 13:48. The Seagles had let the SEA LIONS score 10 in the first quarter and then only another FG for the rest of the game. Hopefully this time the SEA LIONS have a little more to offer after the half, alhtough this has been a problem for them all season long. However: It'll be a great final game, and we wish good luck to the Sea Eagles defending the title as the best team in the Animal Kingdom |

The Defense doesn’t defend, and the Offense doen’t do anything at all.
I’d guess we won’t even score today and lose the second final game in one week EDITH: Well, at least the Offense woke up in the last quarter, but that was way too late. Congrats to the Sydney Sea Eagles on defending the Animal Kingdom Cup Last edited on 2024-12-29 19:20:59 by Chrill |

Strange animal kingdom with no lion to be the king.
Congrats to the winner! |
