This has been one of the most dramatic changes to the game recenrly where OLB players are lined up at DE but much wider set. The dynamic of this change is very important; I believe that the defensive playbook can have a % usage of the Edge over DE similar to blitzing. Say with 50% Edge use; half of the time a DE will line up and half an OLB will line up.This may be similar to the blitzing feature; however all LBs act as eligible blitzers currently and Edge players almost always blitz if on the line: thus increasing blitz percentage doesn't account for the different position.
A comparable change alongside this is the contain and spy plays for the DE and LBs respectively. |

Just some clarification: The LBs do not start blitzing from the 2nd row, at least not always. The game has the ability to allow the blitzing LB to line-up in row1.5 as example. It really depends on the skills of that player, and causes some downside too if the player was lining up to close to the LOS and the blitz was recognized as such.

It would make sense that a confirmed blitz position would give a higher effort at quick pressure but a bonus to the offence in blocking, assuming that formation has someone in a position to block.
So you could recognize it in while in Singleback Spread, but wouldn't be able to do anything about it with only WR and FB whereas in Goalline you have 2TE and a FB available. |

I'm all in with that idea, that would make defenses a whole lot better.
maybe it might be added in S61? |

So what is the end result of such a change ? More Sacks ? Just a quick comparison the NFL top sacking team had 63 (17 games), Quokkas on steroids had 108 (16 Games). Surely we have enough sacks already in the game. Could stand to cut that # back a bit in my opinion.

Just a sidenote: when the sim engine was created, I was frequently looking up NFL stats and comparing my stuff to real-life data. I always assumed I should try to mimic the outcomes, but not strictly follow their stats.
