Anyone have any insights in the anti-tourist protests in Spain. My wife and I really enjoyed our trip there ~15 year ago, but maybe things have changed? Or media is just blowing this out of proportion?
Anyway, was considering taking the family there over the summer... Thanks, Steve SD Blitz |

As I understood, it depends on the areas and the local problems in such.
Barcelona for example has that Air b&b issue where you earn more by renting room to tourists than to locals, so the prices for rooms / flats are skyrocketing and the city loses its locals. Mallorca as different example has the issue with drinking and in general the non-interested in local culture tourists of which money spend during the stay too few effects the locals. So they just come in, destroy (over time) and the locals have to deal with the mess. in general I think you can summerize that the locals are fed up with the profit grabbing fews destroying their community and want reduction and participation. |
