On top...
Imagine having a kicker woth great physicals, great kicking, and great tackling. He is asked to help at defense, LB as example, one day. Why should he be able play exactly as the guy that is learned to play LB, has experience in playing LB, has seen all the crazy stuff a LB could see? Makes not sense to me, I must admit. |

Perhaps it might depend on the position. Makes no sense for TE to be great SF. But good SF could probably play as CB or perhaps LB without too much struggle.
Honestly I dont know how exactly is this set right now, just from the conversation I agree defense players shouldnt be good in offense or as kickers, punter should not be great OL etc.. but when the player stays at right side of the ball, it perhaps shouldnt be that hard for him to play good... |

WR and OL? Seriously, a CBs job is kind of different from an LB or DL. I see no other combinationd than CB and SF, to be honest. And I dislike opening the whole can of worms for this one valid combination

I'm with you on your point made about the Kicker playing defense, but there's one aspect in your reasoning that makes me wonder:

As EXP is an important skill in this game, your argument here makes me wonder if EXP should be linked to the position that the player is assigned to. I'm well aware of the fact that this will anger a lot of managers if it's implemented. It would, though, following the point you made, make sense to reduce EXP when a player is re-positioned, like it's done with Morale and Team Chemistry. Since EXP is gathered far slower than the aforementioned "skills" this would be quite an impediment, admittedly... |

There is one OL running like no OL has run before.
Malakai 140 rushes 839 yards 6 yards per carry He has RB skills (no blocking) but has position set as OL. Today he destroyed me 😄😄😄😄 |

And still has 4-1 record in Elite losing to Elite SB champ only thanks to 78 yards pass with 36 seconds remaining in 4th. Point differential 127. I know that manager of that team is a great one but now having less time for RZA. In his case it seems there is no penalty for playing defense out of position. Is there some explanation how his LBs are playing that good as CBs or SFs? Edit: Also OL mentioned above playing RB and one LB playing TE having stats like one good TE. In my opinion there is a small misreading. "EXP in field" is not only the SKILL EXP, it is also the set position. Both together determine how good at EXP a player is at that position. And I agree, having experience position-based would be huge from a sim point of view ...
Oh, and it does not matter too much to me, if there are teams out there "abusing" the idea behind the gameplay. So if a team thinks it should go for "all kickers" ... let it be. |

This is not real life.
If a player has skills at good numbers for the position he plays why does it matter if the "tag" says OL or WR or LB or CB? |

So your suggestion is that players don't need positions? All of them should have something like AFP (american football player). And one with STR 50, SPE 43, good tackling, footwork, blocking, vision, positioning, punting and kicking can play OL and DL and and P and K, so he can be all the time in the game? That is unrealistic even for a game. |
