Week 1 full of drama

Capn Redzone Rick : What a stunning way to start Season 61, a week filled with upsets, intrigue, bizarre calls and last minute wins...

Firstly we have to start with The Riga Smokers who shocked Sea Devils everywhere with a victory over the legendary SeaLions. We caught up with Smokers QB Tadas Petkevicius who gave his reaction to this monumental win :

Tadas : "Everyone loves a safe bet — and we were anything but. Even Timmy the Greek couldnt have called this. All week it was SeaLions this, SeaLions that. Fantastic drama, but the Hollywood storielines werent just limited to The Queens Stadium in Riga.

Well Pepper, despite short field advantage for Wednesday there, the offense fails to get the touchdown, as Kuk Indika, who has struggled all afternoon cant convert on 3rd and 1. Cotton McKnight: The Wednesday sideline is in complete disarray. The head coach looks stunned. And Bunnell? He’s trotting off the field like he just nailed a game-winner. Absolutely no idea what planet he’s on. This is something else. 3rd and 1 at the 15... and they come away with a punt that lands somewhere in the parking lot. The Wednesday fans are stunned.

Pepper Brooks: McKnight, I think we’ve just witnessed the most aggressive form of surrender since Season 37’s Kneel-Gate.

Cotton McKnight: Whatever the plan was — if there even was one — it’s unraveling fast for Wednesday. The only thing they’ve scored here is a place in tomorrow’s lowlight reel.

Unbelievably this game had more drama to follow...

Pepper Brooks: Cotton, it was brave play-calling. Some might question punting from 14 yards out, but maybe — just maybe — we’re witnessing the work of a mad genius.

Cotton McKnight: If this is genius, it’s wearing clown shoes and juggling chainsaws, Pepper. But hey — it worked

Elsewhere the St Pauli Packers put the hurtin on Copenhagen with a stunning 48-10 victory, whilst The Manta Rays failed in their bid for revenge in Michigan, falling 21-17 and The Constanta Ravens began their Season back in The Sea Devils D1 with a routine 29-10 victory over The Hamsters...

We're surely flattered, but you may be the only one to call the HAMBURG SEA LIONS franchise "legendary" in all of RZA

There's still a lot of work to do, and the Riga Smokers definitely seemed ahead of our team for the whole game. We only had some lucky shots going our way, and don't forget a rare 97-Yard-Kickoff-Return-TD that at least at halftime kept the illusion of us being competitive in the game. If not for our defense we would have lost by way over 20.
