Looking at the numbers from yesterday’s game, the one we like to call our little derby between the Cobras and the Racoons, it tells a pretty clear story.

Rushing yards:
Cobras: 25 yards on 31 carries
Racoons: 113 yards on 33 carries
The takeaway is simple, the Cobras run game got completely shut down.

Passing yards:
Cobras: 260 yards on 23 passes, averaging 11.3 yards per attempt
Racoons: 352 yards on 61 passes, averaging 5.8 yards
Through the air the Racoons moved the ball further, but not more efficiently.

The QB ratings tell the real story though:
Cobras QB: 125.27, 2 TD, 0 INT
Racoons QB: 78.04, 3 TD, 2 INT

Time of possession was heavily in favor of the Racoons at 36 minutes 20 seconds, compared to 23 minutes 40 for the Cobras.

But none of that matters when your safety gets left on an island and the opposing star wideout burns him deep.

Cobras:
2 and 10 on their own 20, Flexbone vs 4 4 3, results in an 80 yard touchdown pass

Cobras:
1 and 10 on their own 19, Big I Formation vs 5 3 3, results in an 81 yard touchdown pass

Those safeties might be taking orders at Taco Bell after that performance.

So yeah, even when you completely shut down the run and dominate the passing volume, sometimes it only takes a couple of perfectly timed big plays to steal the win.

Props to Matzgetier on the victory, that was one hell of a game.

Given the so far played season in the Monarchs 1, I have the feeling there are just a handful of real contenders, for the bowl.

Of course in a playoff match everything can happen, but right now I see:

AC:
Minors and Sainsts are the main contenders.
Snappers might have an outsider chance.
There rest looks in a 100-match-against-the-same-team-scenario as under .500 condidate.
Lucky them, in the playoffs you need only 1 game and that could be a win.

NC:
Miners, Caplit e salama and the Panthers are leading contenders, from my point of view.
There rest seems to be also under .500 candidates in playoff matchups, but you never know.

I can say, that I like the postings a lot this season and I hope that once I'm back in the region, which is already a given fact, this will not get down again, only because I'm writing stuff.

The Supercup playoffs have been reached. A chance to earn some more money. However, a bit of luck in the draw is still needed. If the Miners can get through two or three rounds, it would be a welcome windfall.

After tomorrow's friendly match, the first big game of the regular season's final stretch follows. Caplit e Salama will be making their mark at the Coal Mine Stadium. The atmosphere in the Ruhr area is slowly building. An exciting game is expected. Let's see if the Miners can live up to their fans' expectations.

When I look at your group in Supercup, I think there was never a question you would not qualify.
And from playoff round 1 onword it is plain luck, which teams plays which.

Time for the weekly preview, here are my 3 Top Games for:

Week 13

Top Game 1:
Caplit e salama @ Ruhrpott Miners
Division leaders going head to head, both in top form. Caplit e salama bring balance and precision, but the Miners just look unstoppable at the moment. Expect a tough, physical game that feels like a postseason preview. I can only guess and I will shoot for Caplit e salama.

Top Game 2:
Prague Lions @ Trnava Saints
The Prague Lions head into this matchup with a solid season behind them, but they are up against a powerhouse in the Trnava Saints. The Saints sit at the top of the AC East, boasting one of the most dominant records and strongest defenses in the league. Stat wise, Trnava are miles ahead, sharper passing, stronger rushing, and elite defensive numbers across the board.
The Lions have been playing good football in the NC North, but this matchup might be a bit too steep. If they can protect the ball and find some rhythm early, they might hang around for a while. Still, the Saints are just too polished and too consistent right now.

Top Game 3:
Blatná Jaguars @ Suchdol Minors
The Suchdol Minors come into this game in full stride, sitting comfortably at the top of the division and playing disciplined football. The Blatná Jaguars have some fight in them, but they are up against a team that executes with precision and rarely makes mistakes.
If the Jaguars want to stay in it, they will need to control the tempo and find a way to slow down the Minors early. Otherwise, Suchdol will take command and never look back.

Have a nice weekend!
