So, do you build your CB and SF any differently? In real life football the difference is attitude and probably strength with perhaps some intelligence playing a role. Here in this game it doesn't seem all that different between a CB and SF.
In my opinion I would ideally build all my secondary and LB like my ideal LB build. Probably not happening, especially since I lost most my team at rollover (my fault for being offline for a week and not taking care of contracts). Which leads me to the question of whether you should build all of all DB and Secondary the same? DL is the only one that really seems different on defense. They also have footwork and intelligence doesnt' seem to matter there. I know this could have been in the rookie thread but I was curious from all of the veterans what their opinion is. |

I'm not exactly a Veteran Owner, But as someone who has to worry a lot right now about "Good Enough." By My Understanding, the Difference between the 3 (Really 4) Roles based off my Handful of Seasons, Bleakadors Rookie Guide, and Jacks RZA Guide are this.
CB: Probably the Position I understand the Least about, They should be built best to pick the ball off (This also might help with defending passes, which although not Shown, It's mentioned explicitly in Jacks RZA Guide). Strength isn't a huge deal here as they usually aren't tackling running backs, but it helps. Mission Critical Skills: Positioning, Vision, Speed, Tackling Linebackers: Depending on your Philosophy you either Specialize these to get after the Quarterback, or drop back and defend against passes and the run. High Intelligence is a Must. Mission Critical Skills: Intelligence, Tackling, Vision, Positioning Strong Safeties: Fast Linebackers, Built to stop a running back on the Rampage in his tracks.. Intelligence is useful, but not critical Mission Critical Skills: Tackling, Speed, Positioning, Vision Free Safeties: If your Free Safety misses a Tackle, It's over. Making a Tackle is the most important thing. If your Free Safety misses a Tackle it's going into the Endzone. Intelligence is very important, but other things are more so. Mission Critical Skills: Tackling, Positioning, Speed, Intelligence Other Skills are very useful and necessary for these skills, but for these positions if I had to pick 4 Skills for each to be good at and the rest terrible, These are What I would pick, In the Order I would pick them. These are also the Opinions of a relatively Inexperienced Manager, Have some mercy when you all tell me how wrong I am. |

Everything which helps you missing less tackles helps you win games. This includes strength. RZA is not always like the NFL. In RZA I rather play a low strength player at MLB than at CB |

I absolutely treat OLBs and MLBs different. OLB make a ton of RB tackles, I want my 50/50 beasts there and I can live with lower interlligence.
MLB's make less tackles (also because so many teams like to run outside) but have the chance to get more Interceptions, so I can live with lower strength but def want high intelligence. Ideally I have all players in my back 8 str/spd/int 50/50/50 but you will not find that, so you have to priotize. |
