A real pity when teams like Northern Storms go bot.
When I first joined RZA, Radu messaged me to ask if I wanted some tips. It was brilliant. I asked him loads of questions and he very kindly guided my step by step. Occasionally, I still message him with a question. Jack's Guide is a brilliant resource, too. Many thanks, Radu and Jack! Similarly, I've sometimes messaged new managers. Now and again, one will reply and I've been able to offer some help. But I was wondering whether it might be worth having a separate 'Advice' or 'Mentorship' thread in the SD forum - a kind of RZA Academy. Not just for new managers but for teams struggling to get to reach their goals. Managers have their own reasons for giving up and leaving the game, maybe nothing to do with RZA - just life. Perhaps that was the case with Northern Storm. Maybe a Mentorship Thread/Scheme would help to attract managers to SD when we have a vacancy - and to retain current managers. On the other hand, RZA already has the Rookie Forum. So, I'm not sure - just thinking aloud... |

Northern Storm is a shame. They would have been better moving groups or even leagues.
I know he was becoming frustrated. |

So, I'm not sure - just thinking aloud... I know what you mean, and I’ve tried to do something along those lines with the Newbie Bootcamp Friendly Cups I offered some seasons ago. I even wrote long and (in my estimation) insightful posts to help new managers get on track… but in the end it’s, as always, for the managers to do the work. And this game is not for those who don’t want to invest time and effort. Therefore you can put up lots of help and will still see teams that you deem on the right track go bot. In case of Northern Storm it is really unfortunate, though, because I had the impression that their manager had it figured out. Winning against the mystics is no small feat, so there must have been something going in the right direction… he probably did not see that happening by the time it did, though ![]() |

I didn't see the callout for the BC early enough to take part, but my brother (Leadhills Wonderers - Galaxy) did. But I did I read your Bootcamp posts. It was a brilliant initiative. And, yes, very insightful. |

Northern Storm's player salary was in the global top 5. Spending that much money and then falling short of expectations can be very frustrating. I’m not really familiar with it, but that’s how I imagine it.

Depending on your bank balance, this can mean selling or cutting a lot of players, then rebuilding. Some like me see this as fun. For others, it's a chore. |
