I've got quite a specific problem: I had to promote a youth player to open a spot in the academy. This guy is by no means ready to play, but I have only 46 players in my team. To make things worse, not enough players of his position...

That means he get's a number of plays althought he's not on my depth chart. Any idea to prevent that?

Edit: Typo

Give us a clue .... are we specifically talking about the 1.5* rated WR and the fact that you have only 4 senior WR's in total ?

I still dont have enough players to fill my whole depth chart so i wouldnt stress. I use the sub setting % on the gameplan screen to keep my starters on the field longer.

(1) You could buy a starting WR, or buy a starting TE and convert one of your other TE's to WR (if suitable).

(2) avoid using the Shotgun 4WR formation ! , play your young WR in friendlys/easy Supercup games to gain TC & Experience whilst training him up quickly

(3) put your young WR at no.4 on the WR depth chart and use quite a "low" threshold for substitutions e.g. sub at 75% energy ..... then he'll get very few plays, not enough to affect the game.

(1) I'll give it a try, but since I'm not the biggest fan of the TM...

(2) The 4WR formation is the problem. Until I promoted the guy one of the TEs filled in. But I don't want to assign a TE as 4th WR cause of the out of position thing. (Switching is no option)

(3) I think in this case there would be a 25% chance for this guy messing up the 4WR formation. Especially when I use it for a deep pass he could cause an interception - as long as I remember it right, that a receiver out of position could lead to a DB getting the ball.

Thinking about suggesting an "Inactive" button or something

(1) I'm with you on that , I don't like the TM that's why I've Maxed my YA and am trying to "build" my team via the YA/Youth Pulls , but as you've seen with your own YA being full, it's not easy and it takes time.

(2) I don't see why you need to ever use Shotgun 4WR if you don't want to, if you're a "passing team" Shotgun 2 is effective .... but I doubt that you're a passing team if you only had 3 WR's before your "forced promote" of the WR.

(3) 25% chance ? No, I think it's probably less ..... if your 1,2&3 WR's have better Vis/Pos/Ag/Speed then there is probably more chance of them getting free of the CB's to be open for the pass, and a smart QB will be looking for his 1/2/3 WR before the new kid.

btw, I have a similar problem to yours ..... I have 2 RB's that I'm happy with (most of the time ! ), I bought 2 young guys that have the potential but didn't seem quite ready. So, what to do ? ...I decided to fast-track and try and get one of the young guys ready by playing him at No.3 on the depth chart, I thought it might be a disaster but so far his performance has been a pleasant surprise , he's getting the yards and some TD's and , just as importantly , he's getting experience and building his TC.
RB No.2 has just injured himself, so RB4 will be thrown into the deep-end for tonight's Supercup match (fortunately, against a Bot ).

I go 4-deep at RB most of the time. My #4 seems to be very effective for his first series: fresh legs!

Yeah, good idea .... I used to go 4-deep for both RB & FB but I was struggling for depth slightly in some other areas so I converted one RB to another position and went deeper there.
I like the idea of 4 RB's though and as I've got 55 (max) on the DC I'm thinking where I can cut to get the 4th RB back again .... I've got 3 Gunners , so I might cut a Gunner to get the 4th RB back on the DC.

Of course it helps when your #4 RB looks like this:
Strength 29.6
Speed 44.2
Carrying 23.2
