This is primarily intended as a discussion thread for the actual layout of the Draft Board itself ....not as a discussion for Scouting/Batch Scouting/Scouting the Board with one button-press etc (I think Admin is working on some 'batch scouting' method(s) currently).

I was going to post this as a suggestion, but ...at the moment...it's too general (i.e. not specific enough) to be a suggestion.

My basic problem is this (please don't take this as a personal attack !), but ...

The Draft Board is Hideous !
I don't like the way it looks, and I especially don't like the features/lack of features on the draft board ......that's why I thought a 'brainstorming' discussion on The Draft Board might throw up a few good new ideas.

One idea that I like .... have a 'box' next to each player which allows you to enter his 'new' position on the board.
e.g ... if you see a player that you quite like and think to yourself "He is Top 10" , then enter '8' in the box and the player will move to position 8 on the board.

Another idea ... a temporary "mask" feature on the board. This would allow you to temporarily mask any players or player positions that don't interest you ...
e.g. imagine that you want to concentrate on CB's and SF's .... mask out all other positions so that you can focus on CB/SF. Obviously the other players still exist on the board, but they're just masked until you turn the masking off.

please post here with ideas of how to improve The Draft Board.

Like that. Maybe a "Order by Position"-option would work too. So you click "Order by Position", then have a list (like the current board with all players) with all the positions and then you can put QB on top, P to the bottom and the player board will order itself this way.

I'd definitely like to be able to give players a number and then be able to sort on that field.

That's how i do it in a spreadsheet. The top guys get "1"s, the next level get "10"s, then the next group "30"s. Anyone I don't want gets a "90". Then when I sort all the "1"s are at the top, and the "90"s at the bottom.

I have a suggestion that you should be able to see the player's stats when he's scouted like when you are lookng at players in the training section. I think this would be awesome for the players who don't make big speadsheets.

that would be nice addition...

As would more customisable sort options.

Also a quick scout link from the main draft screen would reduce the number of clicks needed.

You can sort by position alphabetically and I have done that. That made it easy to go through all the Quarterbacks and Linebackers for scouting purposes, for example. I did not scout Kickers, Punters and only some players in the other positions, and that worked just fine.
So the masking idea does not seem that much of an improvement.

However, I do like the idea of assigning a number and the position of the player on the draft board changes automatically. My assumption would be if you assign two players the same number, the most recent number would become valid and all others below would be moved down one number.
Or did I misunderstand your suggestion?

You've understood it correctly.
It would be left to Pete to decide how the easiest way of coding it would be, but my initial thought was this :-
There are 96 positions, so 'halfway' is approx 48.
So ....if you assign a number higher than halfway, then the player would go to that new number and the displaced (old) player would go lower.
e.g - you assign a new player to number 8, therefore the new player takes 8 and the old player goes to 9 etc.

This would be the opposite for assigning a player lower than halfway.
e.g you assign a new player to 95. The new player goes to 95 whilst the displaced (old) player goes to 94.

The current "drag" arrows could be kept for fine-tuning positions on the board i.e. to move a player from 1st to 2nd etc.

Allowing a sort by the Notes field would do the trick.

Then you could just stick your grade in there and sort as and when required.
