Payton Manning might be out for the season having the third neck surgury today.

The Colts have confirmed that Manning had successful single level anterior fusion surgery on his neck, the Indianapolis Star reports. The Colts said in a statement that they will keep Manning on the active roster until "we have a clearer picture of his recovery process."

it is said that recovering from that kind of surgury takes 2-3 months. Do you think Payton has the chance to come back this season or is he out for the season maybe forever? and what will that mean for the Colts?

my guess is if Manning misses the full season the Colts will have a record of 6-10.

on NFL.COM Manning said something like "the team is set proper, even without me"...understatement or truth?

hmm, i have to say he had to say that. but I´m simply stunned that they haven´t groomed a capable backup there. They haven´t the guts to go with Painter and had to go Collins out of retirement. I don´t believe that they could overcome that situation soon. They had thought that Manning would be out maybe 1 or 2 games at most 3. So they looked more for a short term solution and now they have that situation longer. I´m not saying that Collins is bad no he was good but can he learn that system that fast? can any QB learn Paytons system? I´m not so sure. Painter was the longest in that system and they don´t trust them!!! That says all. And the bad thing is they don´t really have a good running game, that could help them be competetive.

Well .... Collins can play, but he had good years and bad years.

Running game is not that bad, could be worse.
Maybe the Jaguars did the Colts a Favor and selfimploded by firing their QB and Tennessee is not that fit on QB either.
Texans will win the division and all others will fight for a .500 or better record.

Even without Payton the Colts should be in good position to do that, if Collins has a good year.
