With 127173 fans cheering, this clash was anticipated to be a nail-biter, and it certainly did not disappoint! The home team kicked off after losing the coin toss, with the Tigers establishing themselves early on.
The first quarter was a back-and-forth affair. The Tigers made some early strides but were met with stiff resistance from the Quokkas' defense. A significant turning point transpired when the Tigers intercepted a pass from Rolf Vogel, returning it all the way for a touchdown! The Quokkas didn’t flinch. They answered back with a sustained drive culminating in a touchdown, fueled by gritty running and sharp passes from Muir Duffie.
As the game progressed into the second quarter, the Tigers continued their offensive prowess, scoring on a fumble return touchdown that momentarily gave them the advantage. But it was the relentless Quokkas that clawed their way back into contention, not giving an inch despite the mounting pressure. At halftime, the scoreboard indicated a tight contest, with the Tigers slightly ahead.
In the second half, the Quokkas surged back, executing a beautiful series of plays that showcased their explosive offense. They managed to find the end zone again, further tightening the grip on the lead. The drama didn't stop there, as the Tigers fought back, scoring again with impressive efficiency!
In the final moments of the game, it became a true showdown, with both teams trading blows. Whispers of an upset electrified the crowd as the Quokkas’ offense showcased determination, pushing into the Tigers’ territory. With hearts racing, it all came down to the last few plays. As the clock ticked down, the Quokkas successfully executed a stunning series of plays right to the end. The climax delivered a thrilling touchdown, clinching the victory as the final whistle blew!
