Air Force Falcons Turn Supercup Into a Falconry Exhibition Against TigerCats

At Falcon Field, with 141414 visitors rustling like an enormous colony of caffeinated meerkats, the Supercup arrived under the sponsorship of Wong Fook Hing Book Store. Experts had predicted a close contest, but the Air Force Falcons soon looked less like cautious birds and more like sky-hunting raptors circling a sleepy water buffalo.
The TigerCats received first, but their opening drive was mauled immediately. Raymundo Berg was sacked by Robin Pounds, then by Quinton Field, as if the Falcons defense had released two badgers into the backfield. After a punt and a lively Ambrose Roche return, Air Force Falcons quarterback Daren Pride guided the home team into striking distance. Tommy Butch finished the first scoring hunt with a short touchdown catch, a neat little pounce at the goal line.
The TigerCats answered after Kalevi Ramey intercepted Pride and returned the ball deep into Air Force territory, a turnover that felt like a jungle cat stealing an egg from an eagle’s nest. Haywood Crosby helped move the ball, but the drive stalled, and Rafael Abell delivered a field goal. Later in the quarter, Leif Yamamoto missed a field goal for the Falcons, a rare wobble from the home side’s kicking hoof.
In the second quarter, Air Force became a migration of unstoppable wildebeest. Yamamoto made a field goal, then Pride found Drew Gagne for a short touchdown. The Falcons defense kept Berg uncomfortable, with sacks and pressure arriving like hornets in shoulder pads. Before halftime, Pride again located Gagne for another touchdown, this one finishing a long, patient march that chewed grass, clock, and TigerCats morale.
The third quarter opened with Air Force leaning heavily on Ben Frost and Ambrose Roche, pounding forward like rhinos politely refusing to acknowledge fences. Roche capped a grinding drive with a touchdown run from close range. The TigerCats then produced one of their best responses of the day: Berg led a long drive with steady completions to King Keane, Zachariah Bouchard, Dirk Dijk, and Alfonzo Holmes before Dijk caught a touchdown pass, briefly giving the away side the posture of a lynx standing on a picnic table.
The fourth quarter belonged to the Falcons’ defense and their ground game. Lloyd Sewell intercepted Berg and returned it all the way for a touchdown, a predatory swoop so clean it should be studied by owls with clipboards. Later, Ben Frost finished another heavy Air Force drive with a touchdown run, after the Falcons offensive line opened lanes like elephants parting tall grass.
Turnovers shaped the tale: Pride’s interception gave the TigerCats their early field-position gift, Sewell’s interception return became a decisive defensive spectacle, and the TigerCats also surrendered possession on downs late in the game. There were no fumbles scampering loose like frightened possums, but the interceptions had enough claws to leave marks.
Air Force Falcons won the Supercup over the TigerCats with a final score of Air Force Falcons 45, TigerCats 10.
