I'm not so sure we need game ending injuries, but I would like to see a higher level of injuries over all. I think I've had 2-4 injured starters per season. Go look at any teams weekly injury report - - they have that in a week. More injuries would encourage teams to build in depth.

And it adds drama to a season and games. Dealing with injuries is unfortunately a big part of any squad based sport and some of the best stories are written by teams overcoming challenges to win it all (2010 Packers for example).

It would make player management in RZA so much more interesting too! Right now you can just get one really good young player to a position (like QB) and forget about him for 10 seasons. With my first RZA team, I actually cared about depth cause I thought it would matter. With this team, I don't bother and I actively try to keep my roster small to reduce costs. In my opinion, the most fun part about RZA is team building. Injuries would require more manager activity to deal with roster replacements and depth. Thus, I believe they would make the game more fun. This poll ended a long time ago and the vast majority of people wanted game ending injuries. I love the idea personally, it would help with parity and drama. It was never implemented. meh. Last edited on 2021-05-05 21:27:19 by WorpeX |

I can't see how more injuries would bring more parity in the game. The rich teams would afford more roster depth than younger and/or poor teams.

I don't like in-game injuries because it's just another random factor in the game.

I voted yes as did 86 others - in-game injuries provide more realism and mean that you have to have a deeper squad with cover for each position. This doesn't discriminate against either richer or poorer teams - both teams just need to have a reserve that is of equal (or slightly) lower skills value to ensure continuity during a game. These aren't season ending injuries so these players will still be available for the next game.

It doesn't matter how rich the team is, they aren't going to be spending the same amount of money that they do for their backup as they do for their starter. If they do, they aren't going to be rich for very long. Plus, backups don't play against backups. If a rich teams backup comes into the game its against the younger teams starters. Lets paint a picture. Really good team vs a Good team. Really good team wins against this team 90% of the time in the past. Just before half-time, Really good team leads by 2 TDs but their star QB goes down for the rest of the game. Mediocre QB goes into the game for Really good team and this puts both teams on a much more equal footing for the last half of this game. Good team has a much better QB now, but do they have enough time to pull off the upset and beat Really good team? Mediocre QB might be able to finish the game out, but a few bad plays and Good team is right back in this game. The only thing we do know is that it'll be a close game to the finish! A feature like this is about adding drama and storylines into the game. I doubt it'll produce too many upsets but it gives the underdogs something to fight for. Instead of going into a match they have no business winning thinking they have no chance, they'll start going into it thinking "Well maybe I can get lucky and pull this out." When it does happen thats an amazing feeling for the underdog and at least the better team can say, "Aw well, lost my QB in the 1st, I'll get ya next time!" The game in its current state is bleeding players. The top dogs always beat the new players and new players don't want to invest a year into a game before they can become competitive. This will help alleviate that problem by opening up roster management, forcing teams to have depth, adding storylines into matches and helping to improve parity.
