No real upsets this time.
The Blood Kings - Aliens was closer than expected.

Next gamedays highlight will be
Vilbler Wasserbube vs. Blood Kings
and
Harrisburg Fire vs. Burnaby Bruisers

Of cause I can't speak for Peter, and of cause you might be right, but I think he would be interested to discuss such issues. Might lead to nothing, might lead to interesting changes. I don't know.
But I think it is worth a try.

I'll take that into consideration.

My view is that Pete does listen to players, but maybe can't find enough time to follow good ideas or at least, most of them.

If you want, you can tip him to sneak peak this post and decide if he wants me to dig into more details or not.

There's always a problem when you learn through negative experiences instead of positive ones.

Also, there are a lot of players learning like you (me included) and I bet there's no one learning the right way. The learning system with the game is also too complex and not fluid. If you think learning is a large part of the motivation process, then this game also misses that "fun" opportunity by far.

Thanks Pantera for sharing your incites. You made some valid points. Clear and understandable. You obviously have spend some time thinking about gaming.
I hope you can recover from the game set back and will chose to stay. Good luck to you either way.

I'll try to keep around, but it's not fun to send this season into trash and having to wait so many games to start the next one...

Yes the game can be painfully slow if you are enjoying it, and want things to happen. I know sometimes I have had to get away from it for varies reasons and times. But I always seem to come back with vigor. I still very much enjoy playing. Frustrating? yes most of the time. About all kinds of things. But I also understand there are never easy fixes. Coding, testing and especially game balance are bigger obstacles than we can imagine, Im sure. But there is something special here. So I hope you can take a vacation. Bounce in twice a week use your YA extra points. Then leave it be. Before long it will be a new draft and maybe your enthusiasm will return. I hope so.

Hey all...I hada ringing in my ears, someone was writing my name

Jack pointed me to this, as I don't read regional forums on a regular base. I would have prefered to see such a discussion in the global forum, however...

I don't want to go into depth here, since this is the season thread of a region. Just wanna write down my own point of view. Maybe you get then why things are as they are, what my goals are, what a possible future of RZA can be, and how I handle suggestions...

When I wrote RZA I had never this one goal: make money, get rich, attract millions of players. I always wanted this to be my small baby. Yes, for sure a few more managers would be very welcome...no doubt. But I have absolutely no intension to turn this into a professional driven thing. It was my hobby when I wrote it initially, it was my hobby when I developed it further - year by year. And it will be my hobby in the future, as long as the supporters are generating enough money to pay the server - not the time I spend!

I see several paths to the future:

an obviously bad one: people stop support, and I have to close the doors.
a possible better way: people support me with a little money, so I can run the server, and have some fun when coding things.
a less possible way, but still interesting idea: redesign the whole thing, and restart at 0. (uh, headaches...)

Let me stick with the "go for it step by step into a future" approach first

Another thing is theory with these different player types - that was a quite interesting read! I have to admit: it was never my goal to think about theory, to think about how to drive a game, to do science I am the type of guy doing things out of my head...idea, try, fail, try again. Again please remember: this is my hobby. I have to think enough at work, where I am responsible for a bunch of coders. This is my counterpart, for relaxing. So I am afraid this is more like try and error as you would like.

But one thing is for sure: I will - as long as this baby is online - never give up with this list of things:

- discussing with people how things could be better
- if the time and my "master plan" allows it, to improve parts of the game

Some of the parts you mentioned - like the Fanshop - where ideas from users. Such features were not there in RZA 1.0. And yes, some people like that way the shop is working, others say it is useless and boring, and others will say "I need to do more with it than I can today"....go back to the suggestion board

For your experience with the warnings and cut players. We have a very slow pace, with two trainings per week. Such roster limit warnings are created during training only. So if you exceed the limits, you get 3 warnings before we cut players. And I am sorry to say, but if a manager doesn't read them I can't see why this is the games mistake. The rules are clear, the manual is up to date. And again: if you think it should be different: the suggestion board is yours.

I can offer you to followup in one of the global forums with this - it would be just unfair to proceed in this regional forum. Unfair to the many managers active in the forums, but not the regional ones they don't belong to. I hope you agree with that.

If you decide this is not your way, and if your conclusion is to quit the game: I cannot do anything against it. But be sure, I would regret it (right word?). If you go, I wish you the very best, wherever your journey leads you to, PanteraNegra.

The Kings won this won, which I would have picked on and Fire won their division matchup, which I would have tossed a coin for.

A bit surprising, but not totally wierd was Winds of Erytheia win over the Florida Gators. I would have thought the Gators are strong enough to win this, but I expected a close game anyway and in that anything can happen.

Still too early to name big favorites, but from my point of view, only 8 teams in each conference do play for a playoff spot, the rest will have little to no chance this season.

Let me offer my advise here and now to all managers of the region.
There are several ways to build a team, but you have to understand the basic mechanics to be successfull. So, if you have questions, just ask, in the forum, or if you like, as private note.

honestly I thought I could pull off the win over WOE, but as long as I kept it close, I was going to be happy, and it ended up being a close game anyway. as long as I can keep games close against big name teams, I have that chance for a play to change the game and win, so that is my short term goal for now, long term is actually winning by comfortable margins!

Pleased by today's win which I believe puts me on target for 8-8 (1 win less than last season). I was surprised by the scoreline as I had been expecting a closer game and maybe even coming out on the wrong side of the score. So pleased as Punch!

Well, that was the only upset of the gameday.
Maddin did mention some real live workload, so without the intention to tarnish the win, he might be a biot out of focus regarding his team at the moment.

They will probably lose against Strike Team next gameday again.
