Since I started in the game, I have deliberately trained my players with an eye to keeping my wage bill as low as possible, but to be as competitive as possible.
As such, my wage bill started low, and grew only slowly for the first 5 seasons but then jumped by over $8M per season for the next 8 seasons. For several reasons, I fired most of my retiring players early last season, and my wage bill actually decreased slightly for the first time ever. I think it has stabilised now. I do have plans for a slightly adjusted strategy, so it may continue to increase for a bit longer, but hopefully not at previous levels. I have played numerous sports management games, and my approach is one that I know works and will take me to near the top of the game. It has never taken me to number one though. My experiences in the elite league, and with other games to date, has shown that some other more aggressive strategies can and do work better. Success in this, and any other sports management game, comes from maximizing your players ability against the maximum income you can generate. I have always struggled with maximizing income on the transfer market, a key income source. For me, games like this really do provide an insight into our own minds and something about my thought process just doesn't allow me to take that step up. |

Just looking at the lower Monarchs leagues. Good to see the 2.X filling up with real players in both divisions. Pity there is still such a jump in quality to the top league, but I'm sure this will start to improve.
Doing well in the 2nd division really will mean something now though!

So Machine went BOT during the u p d a t e from saturday to sunday or sunday to monday.

Well here we are at midseason! My team gets a bye week to prepare for the Berinsfield Hornets, which will be a great matchup. Both teams are in contention for the division title and definitely both teams look like playoff material. The gators are now 7-1 and are projected to get at least 12 wins!
