Congrats to Jagreen on a very nice victory.

I think both our teams played a near perfect game, Not a single turnover between the two, completion % for the QB's 71 and 79 (very impressive showing from Frazer), my team leading yardage and 3rd down convesrsion and the Catamounts leading in sacks and some impressive 4th down conversions.

I don't mind losing this way. On any given sunday, right?

Week 11 Headlines
Interesting week, there were eight 8-1 teams entering, but three of the games pitted these teams against each other.

Long ball propels DCW over Dalton, 31-24
A rematch from last season's wildcard round, the league's match of the week was a thriller. The Dalton Catamount defense mostly kept the DC Washingtonian offense in check, except for two 60+yd TD plays; those two plays accounted for about 33% of DCW's offensive output. DCW jumped out early, posting double-digit leads at 14-0 and 21-10. But JaGreen fought back and took their first (and only) lead of the game, 24-21 with about nine minutes remaining on a 1yd TD plunge by FB Mehdi Windischgraetz. It looked like the Catamount defense would up that score until DCW QB Alois Pytlík connected on his second 60+ TD pass with 3:45 remaining, this one to WR Shemuel Ngahu to put DCW up for good, and the team chipped in a FG as time expired to end it 31-24.

Wasteland Wolves' defense shuts down Verona Idrosburghi, 19-6
Superpippo's squad used a suffocating defense to rebound from his first loss of the season in a 19-6 win over Verona. Limiting Verona to only 182yds of offense, the Wolves dominated this game in every aspect except for the final score. Verona's bend-don't-break defense gave up 500+ yds of offense, but managed to limit the Wolves to FG attempts (4/6) until Wolves WR Dexter McAnuff caught a 2yd TD pass midway through the 4th qtr to seal the victory.

Bautzen Greywolves pick up important win, 24-16, over HighTowers
Most of the intrigue surrounding this week was about the top teams playing each other in three of the week's games, but those were games against likely playoff teams. The Bautzen Greywolves, however, were fighting for their playoff chances when they did battle with the Konjarnik HighTowers. The Greywolves never trailed in this one, but could never put the HighTowers away. Instead, it was mistakes by ulero's team that played a key role in their undoing as the team missed two short FGs and threw an interception in the third quarter on Damion's end of the field. But credit the Greywolves for playing mistake free football to secure the win and improve to 6-4. While Damion currently sits outside of the playoff field, he is behind only the Philadelphia Phoenix (7-3). And while this writer hates trying to make projections, the Greywolves will be favored in five of their remaining six games making an 11-5 record obtainable. Meanwhile, Worpex's squad still has four games against playoff probable teams. If Damion goes 5-1 down the stretch, Worpex will need at least two wins against those playoff teams to keep that sixth spot.

Week 12 Headlines
Verona wins back-and-forth game against Marsz!, 27-23
In a game with six lead changes, this one was coming down to whoever could get the last points on the board, and it happened midway through the 4th qtr on an 81yd bomb from Idrosburghi Verona QB Pantaleone Colbertaldo to WR Ottaviano Zugliani to beat Narozd Marsz! 27-23. No lead was safe during this game as sandrez and Grzymisław traded punches throughout the game. Marsz! took a 23-20 lead only to watch Verona retaliate the very next play with the long TD pass. Then after trading a couple of punts, Marsz! was marching toward the end zone only to watch time expire before getting into striking distance, with the game ending with Grzymisław's team 30 yards out from the go ahead score. The loss drops Marsz! to 6-5 and making the team a longshot to make the playoffs. Verona, on the other hand, keeps pace with the AC leaders improving to 9-2.

Sailors, DCW cruise in wins
In a matchup of 9-1 teams, the Constanta Sailors dropped the hammer on Schrodingers Cats, 37-13. Dolfin's squad actually jumped on the Sailors early, going up 13-0. But marinarul's squad rallied about midway through the 2nd qtr piecing together a 6-min TD drive that ended with a 24yd TD pass from QB André da Rocha to WR Michael Schimpf. It was all Sailors from that point on as the Cats failed to put any more points up.
In the other high profile match, the DC Washingtonians used a 24-point 2nd qtr and then warded off a Växjö Gladiators AFC comeback attempt to win 31-13. After falling behind 24-0, the Gladiators began to chip away at the lead, getting the deficit down to 11 points in the 4th qtr when DCW put the game away by recording a sack on a 4th and 2 situation near midfield. With the shortened field, the Washingtonians put the exclamation point on the win with a final TD to stretch the lead to 31-13.

Pirates, noTown win on missed FGs
The Houston Pirates recorded their first win in SD 1.1 after winning 19-17. The East Dillon Lions gave up a lead to khawhi's early in the 4th qtr but took the following drive down to the Pirate 13 yd line only to shank the 20yd FG attempt. Neither team got past midfield after that miss allowing the Pirates to earn the W.
In one of the more surprising results, the noTown mYsTics rallied in the 4th qtr against the Konjarnik HighTowers to win 27-26. Ulero's HighTowers were looking good at the half, leading 20-3 but began to crumble in the 3rd quarter by allowing a long punt return setting up a FG and throwing two INTs, both of which resulted in TDs for Johnny's squad. The mYsTics finally took the lead on a 6-min, 80yd TD drive but left enough time on the clock for the HighTowers to make things interesting. With 11 seconds left, ulero sent out the FG unit to attempt a 54yd FG for the win, but the kick was off the mark.

Week 13 Headlines
Philly Phoenix scores huge victory over Verona to keep playoff hopes alive
It wasn't a must-win situation for the Philadelphia Phoenix, but the margin for error was slim before winning 31-20 in a wild one with Idrosburghi Verona. For almost the entire game, the two teams went back and forth with neither team gaining more than a 7-point advantage over the other when the Phoenix went up 10-3 before the half. Verona scored the next 10 points to go up 13-10, and the teams exchanged TD drives during the third and fourth quarter with each team answering the other's challenge. On a 3rd and goal from the 16 yd line, Verona QB Pantaleone Colbertaldo found WR Francesco Traversi for a TD pass to go up 20-17. But Worpex responded with a TD drive on his own 3rd and goal TD pass; this one a 3yd catch by WR Kojo Bennett from QB Rusty Torres. But with 4:24 remaining, it was looking like sandrez's team would have the chance to put together one final TD drive for the win. Instead, Phoenix LB Richie Ball intercepted a pass and took it 45 yards for the game sealing score. This one had big implications on the playoff picture. More about that later.

Ravens deal Gladiators third straight loss, 24-6
The Baltimore Ravens offense controlled the clock and the game in a critical division game with rivals the Växjö Gladiators AFC. The Ravens got the ball first, and dictated how this game would be played right away by taking the opening drive 80 yards over 6:22 to strike first. The Gladiators had a quick three-and-out setting the Ravens up for another clock-draining drive, this time a 69 yard, 7:21 TD drive to go up 14-0. With a chance to get back in the game, the Gladiators faced a 3rd and 4 to go on the Raven 21 yd line, but the stout PJ defense kept RavenCorp's offense one yard shy of the first down. The following FG on 4th and 1 cut the score to 14-3, but the Gladiators would get no closer in this one.

Rainbow Warriors win in shoot-out over Schrodingers Cats, 41-34
In a match-up featuring likely division winners, the Rainbow Warriors jumped out to a big early lead, and it used that early advantage to hold off the Schrodingers Cats. It was a quiet first quarter, with ashlee's squad scoring a couple of FGs to go up 6-0, but that was not indicative of what was to follow. Rainbow Warrior QB Travis Scheer connected with WR Luc Lyon on a 36yd TD pass early in the 2nd qtr giving ashlee's team the largest lead it would enjoy the rest of the afternoon. Dolfin's boys would continue to keep the game close after that, even cutting the deficit to just 3 points, 34-31, with a 1yd TD plunge by RB Marc St Ange. But on the next play, WR Luc Lyon would strike again, this time a 79yd bomb from QB David Le Gras to secure the win and likely the No. 2 seed in the NC playoff bracket.

Playoff Picture Update
With 75% of the season in the books, no team is locked in the playoffs yet, not even then 12-0 Dortmund Griffins, but it is possible to hand out some virtual locks and focus in on a few team's chances for a playoff bid. And it should be a wild finish:
The AC:
Virtual Locks: Constanta Sailors (11-1), Wasteland Wolves (11-1), Schrodingers Cats (9-3), Konjarnik HighTowers (8-4), Baltimore Ravens (10-2)
In the Hunt: Michigan State Spartans (8-4), Växjö Gladiators AFC (8-4)
Not Dead, But...: Naprzód Marsz! (6-6), Gdansk Redskins (6-6), Chicago Cubs (5-7)
At 10-2 and a worse-case scenario finish of 2-2, the Ravens will do no worse than the 5 seed, and could still challenge for the division title.
The Spartans have the tougher schedule with games with Idrosburghi Verona and Naprzód Marsz! down the stretch. The Gladiators, on the other hand, have easy wins before meeting the Constanta Sailors in the season finale.

The NC:
Virtual Locks: Dortmund Griffins (12-0), Rainbow Warriors (11-1), DC Washingtonians (11-1)
In Good Position: Dalton Catamounts (10-2)
In the Hunt: Idrosburghi Verona (9-3), Philadelphia Phoenix (8-4), Bautzen Greywolves (8-4), La Spezia Sprugoleans (7-5)
Not Dead, But...: SH Cougars (6-6)

This will be interesting as the NC South teams have hard schedules down the stretch. Dalton Catamounts and Idrosburghi Verona play each other twice down the stretch. Additionally, the Catamounts have Philly Phoenix and Verona has the Spartans. One of the two teams will make the playoffs, but the second-place team might get left out. Philly still has the Catamounts and DCW on their schedule (and games against SH Cougars and Devon Warriors), and the Bautzen Greywolves have the Griffins (and Cubs, Littleton Red Devils and NY Revolvers). Finally, La Spezia needs to be looked at, but with a game against the Rainbow Warriors, he is barely hanging on.
