Shard End Sharks (10-1) at vamosahi (9-2)

There hasn't been an official meeting between these two sides since season 23. A very long time for two accomplished teams to not test their mettle against each other. I have to say that I'm interested in seeing the lessons learned in the seasons since the last game.

Offense

With 953 yards rushing to date, Sharks RB Hellmuth Gerg is the 4th best rusher in Admirals 1.1. He's also accounted for 7 TDs good enough for 6th in the league. While Gerg may be the most notable player on the Sharks, I do not consider him the most notable aspect of their offensive attack. You see, the Sharks employ an almost even distribution of snaps between their 2 QBs Delmer Quinonez and Oliver Hoellwarth. Quinonez has out-snapped and slightly outproduced Hoellwarth this season, but he has more than held his own for the Sharks by producing a higher completion percentage, yard per attempt average, a lower interception number and higher overall quarterback rating than his teammate. Combined these two would have thrown for 3096 yards this season, good enough for 3rd, knocking vamosahi's QB Vardvan Anasarian down to 4th place by just 2 yards! This is important because of the gentleman mentioned at the open, Hellmuth Gerg. While vamosahi's rushing attack is 10th in total yards, The Sharks are 6th with Gerg accounting for more than half of his team's output. Gerg is not a compliment, he's the unquestioned alpha.

Defense

The Sharks are 2nd in Admirals 1.1 with 55 total sacks. Accounting for 15 of those sacks is pass rusher supreme LB Simon Aguirre. Along with the other linebackers and d-linemen in this front 7, the Sharks are 2nd in tackles for loss. This is a unit that lives in the opponent's backfield. As expected, an aggressive unit like this is able to force opponents into turnovers and the Sharks Archie St. Clair has 3 forced fumbles, good enough for 1st place tie in the league. Not to be outshined in the turnover department, vamosahi continues to maintain their 1st place (tied) status as league-leading interceptors. LB Angelo Nedic 2nd in the league has collected 9 interceptions this season.

Special Teams

Continuing to pace the league in his work rate, vamosahi K Mauro Aroca remains 1st in the league with 37 made field goals. K Stewart Riley for the Sharks is ranked 10th in FGs made in Admirals 1.1

Analysis

Both of these teams are extremely productive through the air and on the ground with a significant edge rushing going to the Sharks. On the other hand, vamosahi is excellent at turning teams over when they take to the air. If that becomes a factor in this game, that rushing edge could be negated especially if those turnovers lead to points for vamosahi.

Prediction

Shard End Sharks
