The first game of the season tomorrow!

We're not going to beat Thunder 1 on the pitch but we can beat them in the forums! So far we're winning 19-12 for posts so let's keep the ball rolling with some predictions (In my biased opinion the draft threads don't count )

Week 1

(I'm only including Human v Human games.)

Dublin Dragons (503) v Spitting Llamas (738)

History and ELO favour the Llamas with the only previous meeting between the two sides resulting in a SC win for the Llamas. However, with the Llamas losing their entire roster at the end of last season due to contract disputes, and with the presence of bailiffs negatively affecting TC they look to have a long season ahead. Which is not helped by players turning up for pre season out of shape.

Can the Dragons take advantage of the Llama's misfortune? Their passing D will need to stay focused for the full 60 mins.

Prediction: A narrow Dragons victory.

Duluth Eskimos (499) v Drew Warriors (500)

Once again history favours the home team as the Warriors boast 4 wins to the Eskimos 1 over the course of history. It's really tough to choose but I think the Eskimo's have drafted slightly better so this should give them the edge. Rookie linemen Bos and Rice should offer new QB Moshe Jacques just enough space to show why they took him in the first round.

Prediction: Eskimos victory.

Fredericksburg Comanches (546) v Nashville Renegades (600)

The first official game between these two could go either way. Both are in excellent shape, and have similar ratings. Maybe the lack of atmosphere in Renegades stadium with only 11,544 seat might play into the Camanches hands? Renegades performed well last season going 11-5 while Comanches toiled in Thunder 1.

Prediction: Narrow victory for the Renegades. I think homefield advantage and their Draft RB and FB will give them the edge against one of the weaker Rush defences in Thunder 1 last season.

World Champions (644) v Budapest Wolves (829)

A first official meeting between former Thunder 1 winners and 3 time Elite league members the Wolves and up and comers the Champions.

The Wolves are one of a number of teams plagued by off field issues in Thunder 2 and baliffs will have a serious impact on their promotion hopes unless they can get their finances sorted early on in the season.

World Champions have plenty of Thunder 2 experience and narrowly missed out on promotion in the divisional game last season. Their relegation match up v Ridge City Frogs showed they are not quite ready for the step up to Thunder 1 and I believe Wolves' experience will give them the W tomorrow.

Prediction: A Wolves home victory.

Good luck everyone!

btw my team is bad, so very bad. it mostly consisted of youth players I promoted to senior team when I pulled them. They have no training and physicals are not maxed.

I think it's worse than a BOT team I fear. we'll find out today...

EDIT: I am winning so I guess BOT teams are just really really really really bad

You got your W in the end! You'll get 5 wins now you know you can beat bots!

My predictions were a little off

But we managed to win so the season is off to a good start for now!

Indeed, Wolves one being the most surprising. One worrying note is that janos has not logged on for a week now.

Congrats to your win, that was also a thumping! My favorite for the Bowl now!

Game week 2

Amersfoort Alligators (787) v Thang Long Warriors (744)

Two new additions to Thunder 2. Alligators are in rebuilding mode so may be with us a bit longer, however, the Warriors will be looking to bounce back to Thunder 1 ASAP. If they are to bounce back they will need to reorganise themselves financially as their morale is really suffering at the moment and it will likely cause them problems as the baliffs continue to strip their assets. Maybe a home game is all they need to get up and running.

However, despite the Warriors' financial issues, they should prove to be too strong for a rebuilding Alligators side. In Cheesehead's own words: "btw my team is bad, so very bad"

Prediction: A comfortable win for the Warriors.

Bluebombs (566) v Dublin Dragons (508)

In their two previous league meetings Bluebombs have run out comfortable winners and I don't see that changing here. Bluebombs will simply be too strong for their divisional rivals as they fight for the NC East title.

Prediction: A comfortable win for the Bluebombs

Budapest Wolves (822) v goats (603)

Unfortunately another two teams with financial issues. The goats will be hoping for a full stadium to ease some of the burden as the baliffs continue to show up at both teams.

Wolves were disappointing last week and their morale is looking really low now with all the off field issues. Hopefully the former champions will be able to turn it around but I think this has come too early in the season.

Prediction: A win for the goats

Drew Warriors (504) v Fredericksburg Comanches (556)

Both these teams impressed last week and destroyed my predictions! They have a long history having met 10 times previously with the record currently 5 v 5. There really isn't much between them... Perhaps homefield advantage will be the key.

Prediction: A narrow win for Fredericksburg Comanches

Spitting Llamas (730) v Montreal Dragons (616)

A first meeting between these two. Llamas have managed to recover from their financial issues just in time so the baliffs have allowed them to keep their draftees which is great news for their rebuilding project! Dragons are looking quite strong as they look to put last years playoff disappointment behind them.

Prediction: A comfortable win for the Dragons

St Neots Saints (595) v Tampa Bay Thunder (637)

It's been 8 seasons since these two teams last met. And so with completely different managers and players it's hard to look at past data. The are both looking strong and should be favourites for their respective divisions. The Saints are looking just a bit sharper after preseason with their PC at 92 v 84 and with a small home crowd expected, I think they may just edge it.

Prediction: A narrow Saint's victory

Vicious Attack Dogs (565) v Duluth Eskimos (499)

The Dogs will be looking to make amends for last season when they narrowly missed out on playoffs. In the last game of the season they seemed in control v their divisonal rivals until the last 5 mins when Bluebombs completed 2 75 yard TDs resulting in a 35 - 37 defeat for the Dogs. They have made a flying start to the season with an 80 - 0 victory over meetsaaks and they will be rampant this week v Eskimos. I don't think they will stand a chance against one of the NC's best.

Prediction: Easy win for the Dogs.

Good luck everyone!
