Opossum! How very technical and Americas-centric of you.

Week 9 in the books, let's get a recap.

Top games:

Malones over the Marauders 34-9

This basically clinches the playoffs for the Malones and will certainly move them up the rankings with a dominant win over a top conference opponent.

Bruisers over the Owls 44-24

Are the Bruisers back on track with this convincing win? No one will want to play them if they end up as a wild card team.

Upset of the week!

Rotties over Gators 37-31 OT

I claimed they were the spoiler pick for the rest of the season and they proved me right instantly. They scored an 80 yard td with half a minute left to tie the game after the Gators had scored with 1 minute left to take the lead. A wild end to a great game. Now the Gators are in possibly trouble with a difficult remaining schedule while the other teams in the race will likely finish 10-6. Can they go the rest of the season with only 2 losses, or will they need to rely on their solid PD to get that last spot?

Tuesday's Games to watch!

Malones - Brusiers - Malones won the first round, both are on win streaks (Malones 4-0 Bruisers 4-1) and both need the win ether for playoff berth or positioning.

Gators - Lions - Both teams need this to stay ahead of the other for playoff positioning. Gators have won the last 4, including 2 playoff wins.

Malacok - Rotties - Two upstart NC teams. Both dangerous division rivals. Malacok wants to keep it's playoff hopes alive, Rotties want to make a statement in their first Division 1 season.

At least we shouldn't end up in the same division. Hopefully not even the same conference

Saw other leagues doing some power rankings + quarantine boredom + halfway through the season, figured I'd add some flavor here in Monarchs. Nothing is meant to be flaming or offensive and I fully expect this to add a little target on my back, so be it. I don't take team rating into account, just who you've played and those outcomes.

Before I begin, special thanks to Gator for doing the mid season predictions the last couple seasons.

1. Torchwood Aliens 8-0 - A last minute tie and OT victory against those pesky Krakens, and another close victory over the Owls gives him 2 top 10 quality wins. The only question left is will the Gators keep them from another undefeated Monarchs 1 season?

2. Paxtang Black Panthers 8-0 - Other than a strong victory over the lions, they haven't had any real games yet. That is changing soon with tough games against the Kraken, Bulls, Owls, and even the dangerous Malacok.

3. West Geatish Warriors 7-0 - An early win against the Bulls and a close one against the Marauders slots the Geatish at number 3. The Lions are seemingly their last obstacle for an undefeated season.

4. Space Kraken 7-1 - These guys are the classic overperform regular season, choke in the playoffs. A crazy OT loss to the aliens and a strong win against arch-rival Owls sticks them in the top 5. That's likely to change with 3 more challenges, the Panthers, Marauders, and a rematch with those bloodthirsty, savage, revenge seeking Owls.

5. Bradford Bulls 6-1 - A close win against the Lions* slots the Bulls inside the top 5. Their schedule is pretty easy this season. Cross conference with the Panthers and a rematch with the Lions could determine who wins the division.

6. Poznan Knights 7-1 - Are the Knights for real?! A really good win against the Pre/Home Malones, but the real test is the two games at the end of the season against division rival Gators.

7. Home Malones 6-1 - Expect this slot to be quite volatile. A win against the Bruisers slips them right outside the top 5, but the real challenge is coming with games against the Marauders next week, and a rematch with the Brusiers the following week.

8. Midnight Marauders 7-1 - Same as above, a tough loss against Geatish and a few tough games upcoming will move this team around quite a bit in the coming weeks.

9. Park Ridge Owls 5-2 - Don't let the "cute" name fool you. Owls are vicious and deadly. 1 score losses to both the Aliens and Kraken put this team right in the mix come end of season. The remaining schedule isn't exactly Owl friendly with matches against the Panthers, Bruisers, and a Kraken rematch. They'll still beat the Kraken in the postseason.

10. Burnaby Bruisers 4-3 - Got pretty unlucky losing to a great team right before they go bot. Following that, losses to the Lions and Malones drops the Bruisers but a win against the Gators keeps them in the bottom of the top 10. Would not be surprised if they are playing opossum and make a run to the conference championship.

11. Florida Gators 5-2 - Another team with an unlucky schedule losing to a now bot team. I'm not sure that will matter much as their whole schedule is tough. Possibly the hardest schedule out there. Already lost to the Bruisers, with follow ups against the Aliens, Malones, Lions, and a rematch against the Knights. This team will still be a wild card team that no one will want to play.

12. St. Leo University Lions 5-2 - The lions have a few tough games remaining with the Gators, Geatish, and Bulls coming up. The rest of the schedule is quite tame. If they can steal 1-2 of those wins, look out for this playoff spoiler AC.

13. Fehevari Malacok 5-3 - My top team to miss the playoffs, and our lone Hungarian representative in Monarchs + a name I can't pronounce. They've made strides end of last season and so far this season and can be a dangerous spoiler if overlooked. I expect them to be a playoff team next year.

14. Osler Rotties 3-4 - Here's my top spoiler team for the season. This team has improved quite a bit through the first half and it shows over the last few games. He'll put that to the test with possibly the hardest remaining schedule. Games against the Malonesx2, Gators, Malacok, and Bruisersx2.

15. SARMIS 3-4 - Our long term Romanian coach has opportunities to stay on top of this group with games against Birney and the Eastern Wolves.

I'll know more about what our new teams have to offer once they start playing eachother rather that beating bots and getting blanked by established teams.

16. Eastern Wolves 4-3 - They beat birney, that's what gets them top 16 ahead of all the rest. They play SARMIS later in the season which will give us a better gauge.

17. Minutemen 3-4 - They scored against the Kraken, Rotties, and Lions. Hopefully they keep up the improvement while playing the Panthers, Owls, Marauders, and Bulls.

18. birney's weekenders 2-5 - Great team name, a loss to the Eastern Wolves sticks them near the bottom. They can redeem themselves with wins against the Rotties and SARMIS.

19. Granite State Grey Wolves 5-2 - They haven't scored against a human opponent yet, and that might not change with remaining games against the Knights, Aliensx2, and Owls.

Good luck to everyone except the Owls for the rest of the season.

Enjoy the pandemic!

Great write up mate, and thanks for jumping in with mid season predictions

Unfortunately, I have dropped WAY too many games already, I can not afford to lose more than 1 or 2 at the most from here on out. Gonna be a tough road to the division title.

Excellent write up, I greatly enjoyed it

Week 11 Rankings are here! A few shake ups near the top and so many hot takes you'll probably go blind.

1. Torchwood Aliens 10-0 - Status Quo here. Super hot take.

2. Space Kraken 9-1 - Big victory against the Panthers just increases the distance the squid can fall in the playoffs. 2 more challenges, Marauders and a rematch with the Owls.

3. West Geatish Warriors 10-0 - Geatish won't drop unless they lose against the Lions. An undefeated season and a 2 seed? Very possible.

4. Poznan Knights 9-1 - Knights keep it up with a good win against Malacok. Still two games at the end of the season vs. the Gators.

5. Paxtang Black Panthers 9-1 - Panthers drop a little with a loss, but they can make that up with games against the Bulls, Owls, and the one game out of the playoffs Malacok.

6. Bradford Bulls 9-1 - Really looking forward to the Bulls Panthers matchup. Remaining challenges: Panthers, Lions.

7. Home Malones 8-2 - Malones Stand pat with a strong statement against the Marauders, followed by a revenge loss to the Bruisers. Still some possible losses with Gators, Rottiesx2, and Malacok.

8. Burnaby Bruisers 7-3 - Bruisers move up a couple with a string of 3 impressive wins, beating the Owls, Malones, and Rotties. More statements left to be made against Malacokx2, Rotties, and Marauders.

9. Midnight Marauders 8-2 - Marauders drop after the beating by the Malones. They can still move around with games against the Kraken and Bruisers left.

10. Park Ridge Owls 7-3 - Owls took a beating from the Bruisers but still have a pair of challeneges with against the Panthers and a Kraken rematch.

11. Florida Gators 7-3 - Gators clearly didn't read the write up on the Rotties being a spoiler, but turned it around the following game with an incredible win against the Lions. Aliens, Malones, Lions, and a rematch against the Knights still wait for them, the road to the playoffs will not be as easy as they thought. They'll still pull it off though.

12. St. Leo University Lions 7-3 - The lions lost a heartbreaker against the Gators in what has to be a top 3 game so far this year. They still have games remaining against Geatish and Bulls.

13. Fehevari Malacok 6-4 - Couldn't quite pull off the upset of the Knights and they are still one game out of the playoffs. With games against the Malones, Bruisersx2, and Panthers, I just don't see it happening.

14. Osler Rotties 4-6 - Rotties saw the writeup and instantly proved me a genius. The favorite spoiler will attempt to ruin 2 more seasons against the Malonesx2 and Bruisers.

15. SARMIS 4-6 - Played a tough match against Geatish. Still wants a piece of Birney and the Eastern Wolves.

16. Eastern Wolves 6-4 - They kept it close against the Gators, that's a sign they could be competitive next year. We'll see what happens against SARMIS.

17. Minutemen 4-6 - They kept up their scoring streak and have yet to be shut out this season. Owls and Marauders will try to break that streak.

18. birney's weekenders 4-6 - Birney should be excited right now, every day is like the weekend... aside from being able to do anything. They can still challenege the Rotties and SARMIS for W's.

19. Granite State Grey Wolves 7-3 - They still haven't scored against a human opponent and have 7 wins. Too bad there isn't a pro bowl where the NC can show the AC it's place! They'll try to get a point or two against the Knights, Aliens, and Owls.

Until next time on Monarch 1, I'm Rufio.

Yet another excellent write up, couldn't have said it better myself.

I have a tough road to even make playoffs at this point, much less win my division. Kudos to Poznan Knights for pulling off such a strong performance so far I look forward to our matches near the end of the season, should be some good games.

My match against the Lions was very hard fought, I felt certain I would lose that one once they had that pick 6 in the last 4 minutes of the game. I am lucky to get that win and keep my playoff hopes alive

Best of luck to everyone on your remaining games
