Rufio....
Where are the rankings?

It's matcday and I don't have anything to read before going to my office...
My colleagues will have an harsh day and it's all your fault !!!

Truth is: I managed to win one and it's probably the only rankings I will see with a positive record ...

P.S. Pete, can we fire him ?

It's only Tuesday! I do them once a week (real week, not game week). So the next one will be between Wednesday and Saturday. The colleagues will have to tread lightly until then! For what it's worth you definitely would have jumped up with that great week 1 win. You've got an important challenge tomorrow!

Don't pressure Pete to put me on the hot seat! I was just going to ask him for a raise!

Congrats on the win Kanar. Your team brought my qb back down to earth after his unbelievable season debut. You turned him into captain check down with a paltry 4.8 avg on passes. But, at least his conservative throwing also netted him two interceptions. He was even worse on fourth downs. Live by the fourth down by the fourth down came up snake eyes today for the Malones.

My D vs your O was pretty good matchup. Your team moved the ball well, but my defense was able to limit most scores to fgs. Your D carried the day, though, congrats!

SCORIGAMI UPDATE:
There have not been any scorigamis this season.

Quite a few good efforts, though:
Only one previous each of 46:13, 34:32, & 28:12
Two previous 15:14
Four previous 44:23, 24:0, & 33:30

Lots of fun scores in there. My eyes lit up when I first saw that 46:13, but S22 claimed that already.

Thanks Derek! As you said, the dice rolls where in ma favor on 4th down today and I definitely won thanks to it. For sure it was not thanks to my game plan which did not exist. Good luck for the rest of your season! May we face again in the Cup or League PO.

On a side note, I just lost the best WR of my team and #1 ranked on the all star list for 25 days. Not what you want to see in the morning!

I finally came around to find and read this season preview. with my head down into bookkeeping stuff I needed this to breeze fresh air and fun into my brain. Thank you Rufio, another classic from you. Pure excellence !

Rufio13 wrote:
Welcome to the new season gentlemen! I'll be watching from afar with my eye on a return next season. We've got a few returning teams, which one be this season's PR Chaser? Can anyone keep up with Monarchs? Can the AC keep up after a down season by adding the perennial playoff hopefuls Lyon Eagles and the World Cup winning Packers?

Rank. (last season's record) (Previous elite rank) Last season result

1. (14-2) Salt City Pirates (1) NC Runner-Up
I keep ranking this team at the top since their last win. The highest rated team ever keeps running into the Malone's super QB buzzsaw. Since he's retired who will step up to knock out the Pirates this season? I'm guessing no one.

2. (12-4) Willemstad Bridges (3) Divisional Round
The Bridges had their first playoff loss since season 38 in a surprising Mascot induced upset. Have they been figured out? Has the team declined? Did they just have a terrible, no good, very bad day? I'm guessing the latter.

3. (14-2) Chelt Nam Bobbers (4) Divisional Round
The Bobbers are still looking to put Dragons on the map. They've come close the last 2 seasons. The rest of the region has a long ways to go before putting any pressure on Jonny Utah. They'll have a top record again, but can they get by the Pirates?

4. (13-3) The Masked Ducks (2) Divisional Round
The Ducks stormed back in to Elite and swiped another Sea Devils crown. No reason to think they give it back this season.

5. (12-4) Home Malones (5) Elite Champion
The self proclaimed 5 Swayze man won his first trophy after a couple incredible QB performances and a wild NC championship game and gave the Monarchs their 3rd champion. His QB has now retired and the Malones are humbly claiming mediocrity. We all know that's a lie because he's a big fat liar, but can he win the big games without the superhuman qb?

6. (11-5) PR Chaser (12) Divisional Round and CoC Champion
An impressive return to Elite gaining the title Fire champion, followed by a disappointing playoff exit, a Runner up Supercup finish, and a CoC trophy placed on the mantle. Will they continue their ascension up the AC or come crashing back down amidst a very challenging division?

7. (13-3) San Diego Blitz (6) Wildcard Round
Should I mention anything about the playoffs here? No one is close to Steve's Blitz as far as Galaxy is concerned, but Steve needs to recapture that tournament magic... or at least stop running into the Malones in the first round. He'll have all season to figure it out as he will coast to another Galaxy championship.

8. (10-6) Hell Hounds (11) AC Champion
The Hounds had quite the impractical run last season. They needed a win in the last week to even make the playoffs and that momentum carried them all the way to a conference championship. Will the team return back to it's good but not great status or was this the run that sparks this team to annual contender?

9. (10-6) TigerCats (7) Wildcard Round
TiCats had a bye in the previous 2 playoffs before losing the last game of the season to PR Chaser and getting a WC spot. Fire is looking even deeper this year with the Eagles and Dynamos (Formerly Blues) back in the mix. 3 seasons ago Skeetz was only here for the draft pick, 3 playoffs and 2 division championships later he's the one Fire is gunning for.

10. (10-6) Sunrise City Prairie Dogs (9) Wildcard Round
Sunrise City sounds like an old folk's home. A far cry from the insanity of D.C., ptdoc has rebranded his contenders in the hopes of a deep playoff run. They got in the playoffs on the last game of the season, but couldn't knock off the Sea Devil rival Ducks.

11. (16-0) BlackDragons (-) Monarch Champion and Supercup Champion
Angus is back after his statement season away from Elite. The Dragons did not lose a single game last season. Zero. Now their goal is to send the Malones back to D1 and return to their Elite perch.

12. (11-5) BobBoy Magpies (13) Wildcard Round
Lost in the first round each of the last two seasons to division rivals, and now this division is even harder. Do the Admirals get two teams in again? Can the Magpies keep the postseason streak alive?

13. (10-6) Free Agent Mascots (15) AC Runner-Up
The Mascots qualified for the playoffs on the last game of the season and proceeded to roll all the way to the AC championship game before falling. Now they'll have to hold off the Packers or overtake the Magpies to get another shot.

14. (14-2) Green Mark Packers (-) Admiral Champion
Three Admirals in a row! The Packers won 6 Elite games in season 39, 8 in 41, 10 in 43? The team has improved, you might have heard they won the World Cup for Austria. If they keep up that play they'll find themselves on top of the Admirals region.

15. (10-6) Diorite Lions (10)
I might have mentioned before how close the Lions and Hounds are. The Lions barely missed out on the division and playoffs last season and with a little luck it could have been them in the championship instead. I think this season they sneak in the playoffs for a run of their own.

16. (16-0) Lyon Eagles (-) Fire Runner Up
Welcome back to Elite John Heisman's nephew and his Eagles. They took one undefeated Fire season break to come roaring back to a very competitive division. Fire could possibly have all 4 teams in playoff contention.

17. (10-6) Rio Stars (17)
The Stars turned in a nice inaugural Elite season and now have a couple new challengers trying to keep them out of a third straight, while simultaneously having eyes set on a playoff appearance. They'll need to pass up Ex-DC while also holding off the Dragons, Terriers, Elephants and whoever else sneaks in a good season.

18. (16-0) BU Terriers (-) Galaxy Champion
The Terriers return after a brutal season 41 schedule and showing with the desire to immediately return to the playoffs. To start they'll need to get revenge on the Elephants for relegating them in the first place. In a bit of late season drama, they'll play the last game of the season. What will that determine? Playoffs? Relegation? Both?!

19. (7-9) Dumbarajko Elephants (18)
The Elephans are getting restless. Such excitement to start each of the last two seasons followed by lackluster second halves. Now the Terriers are back to reclaim the #2 spot in Galaxy. Will the Elephants swing their Trunks like terrible towels or will they hide like they saw mice?

20. (16-0) Maykop Dynamos (-) Fire Champion
The Ex-Blues make their return to Elite after an undefeated Fire season as well. Alex has his work cut out for him in a very tough division where all teams are not thinking just avoid relegation, but have playoff aspirations as well. We'll find out real quick as PR Chaser is the opening week opponent.

21. (15-1) Leeds Celtics (-) Sea Devil Champion
The last time Jonny crossed into Elite territory his team was not set to compete. This time he hopes to swap spots with Buzi and rejoin the top end Sea Devil teams as they attempt to reclaim best region honors.

22. (15-1) Ergodicity (-) Dragon Champion
Another team that had an unfortunate Elite experience two seasons ago, formerly Erudite Linstock, Ergodicity has rebuilt the team, has Elite experience, and along with Rio is the closest threat to the Bobbers since the fan favorite Dillos are back in D1.

23. (14-2) Bracciano Lakers (-) Admiral's Runner Up
With all the talk about the Monarchs Region taking over, let's revisit the Admirals division. The Lakers had to beat perennial Elite playoff contender AS Roma Wolves to even make it back and now have to beat 2 of the Mascots, Packers, or Magpies to avoid relegation and even have a shot at the playoffs. Monarchs might have a higher ceiling, but Admirals has more depth.

24. (7-9) Norfolk Dumplings (23)
The Dumplings had a rough start to their second attempt at Elite last season but used a late season surge and a surprise last game win against the Bridges to jump Juggernaut by 5 points and avoid relegation. Can they keep that momentum and compete for a playoff spot, or will they fa l t e r out the gate again?

25. (15-1) Istanbul Whitings (-) Thunder Runner Up
The Whitings surprised the AC in season 39 going 12-4 in their first Elite season, then surprised everyone again the next season going 6-10. Which Istanbul (not Constantinople) will we see this season?

26. (16-0) Peoples Republic of Yorkshire (-) Claymore Champion
Who doesn't love the Yorkies!? If you don't then get out. Larry Allen's team is back with an impressively high rating compared to a still very small salary. Will that small salary be enough to overtake the Hounds or Lions? When will Larry decide to pay his dogs a living wage?

27. (14-2) Växjö Gladiators AFC (-) Sea Devil Runner Up
Växjö's QB has been chucking like crazy for many seasons. He's currently 2nd all time and there's no one really close. #1 is about double that yardage which is completely insane. Will all that chucking give the Gladiators enough offense to pass up the Dirt Dogs and Ducks?

28. (14-2) Kalapana Wild Thangs (-) Thunder Champion
The last time the Thangs were in Elite was season 35. Due to fan pressure they decided they'd give it another shot. Stizz has been around since season 3, so maybe he's got some old tricks in his hat.

29. (14-2) Letaidens (-) Monarch Runner Up
A very high rated team, we'll see what kind of resume dar can create. Being in this division in your first Elite attempt doesn't bode well.

30. (15-1) GLADIATORS III (-) Claymore Runner Up
I don't know what happened to the first two gladiators, but 8M in player wages had better translate to some Elite success. Pulling the Bridges and TiCats as the 2 random games was just brutal luck. They'll need extra division wins to prevent the Emperor from flashing the .

31. (11-5) Mülheim Seahawks (-) Dragon Runner Up
Feras was so inspired by my tour of Mülheim he decided to win his conference and give Elite a try. I was disappointed to find his team isn't 100% Vikings, but with some Elite experience this team can have some future success.

32. (14-2) TOOL (-) Galaxy Runner Up
Maynard and his team of fighting Maynards have finally made it to Elite. He then decided to dump his salary, re-Tool , and fight for a draft pick.

I'll have my playoff predictions in the next couple days, until then everyone have a lovely beginning of Summer and make sure the Malones do not repeat this season or we'll have to sabotage their training facilities.

Only 8 teams undefeated through week 2, and only one of those was in the top 10 to start!

So Let's answer some questions!

"We've got a few returning teams, which one be this season's PR Chaser?"
Early results suggest the Eagles and Packers which is not at all surprising, but Ergodicity's strong start is clearly the the biggest story here.

"Can the AC keep up?" There's only been 2 games with top teams facing eachother. Magpies beating the Pirates and the Artist Formerly Known As DC beating PR Chaser. So 1-1 is certainly keeping up.

1. (2-0) Willemstad Bridges (2)
Bridges get a TD in the last 3 minutes to cap off a comeback win against the TiCats, but the large felines seem to have closed the gap a little bit. I feel like we'll have a playoff rematch in a couple months.

2. (1-1) Salt City Pirates (1)
Pirates start the season dominating a top 5 team, but followed that up with a close loss to the Magpies. No worries here, but I'm not feeling a 14-2 season anymore.

3. (1-1) Chelt Nam Bobbers (3)
"The rest of the region has a long ways to go before putting any pressure on Jonny Utah." Did I speak too soon? Ergodicity sneaks a surprise W against the top Dragons team.

4. (1-1) The Masked Ducks (4)
A good start as the Ducks go 1-1 vs. the top Monarch teams. Now Kanar is heading back home to France to fight for the title of top French team.

5. (1-1) Home Malones (5)
After a bunch of whining and pleading, the Malones are looking like an unpredictable team. 5 Swayzes one day vs the Dragons, a 2 Swayze team against the Ducks. Patrick would be disappointed.

6. (2-0) BobBoy Magpies (12)
Did anyone have a stronger opening to the season than the Magpies? Beat the AC runner up by 4 tds then scored an OT victory against the Pirates.

7. (1-1) San Diego Blitz (7)
A tale of 2 Steve's to start the season. A great win against the Near-Canada Plains weasels, followed by a surprising loss to the Dumba Pachyderms. The next 4 games are not easy; Lions, Terriers, Dragons and Bobbers. How big a hole will they find themselves in?

8. (1-1) TigerCats (9)
Just like last season, we will have to wait until the end to see what happens in the Fire division as PR Chaser and the TiCats don't meet until week 14. So week 6 will be the Eagles matchup as their first divisional race test.

9. (1-1) Sunrise City Prairie Dogs (10)
I was doing my wellness checks at Sunrise City after a rough start to the season, but everyone seemed to come back to life for game two with a complete demolishing of PR Chaser. Ticats and Dragons are on the horizon.

10. (1-1) PR Chaser (6)
PRChaser hopes my predictions are as accurate as they were last season, but I was very wrong about his team. Does this mean I'll rate his team wrong again this season as I expect big things from his public relations team? Not a great start after a big time blowout loss to the Montana Capybaras.

11. (2-0) Diorite Lions (15)
Lions starting the season quite strong, a solid win over the Packers and a very hard fought defeat of the rival Hounds has them in early lead for the Claymore crown. Yorkies show up next week to challenge that crown, otherwise the Lions are looking at a nice early season buffer.

12. (2-0) Lyon Eagles (16)
The Eagles will be thoroughly tested over their next 4 games. They get the returning Fire champions PR Chaser and TiCats plus the Ducks and Magpies. We'll see if they are a legit playoff contender or if they are destined to fly back to D1.

13. (2-0) Dumbarajko Elephants (19)
As is tradition, the Elephants are off to a hot start. The Lions next week plan preventing it to continue. More importantly is the game after that against the Terriers. The second half schedule is nothing like past seasons, but there are definitely some must win games coming up.

14. (1-1) Green Mark Packers (14)
Couldn't hang with the Lions, but had a near perfect second half against the Lakers. They have Magpies next. Will they knock them off to take over the division or let them increase their lead?

15. (1-1) BlackDragons (11)
"Angus is back after his statement season away from Elite." I'm not sure week one was the statement he wanted to make. A slight rebound for week 2, but it will be another return to D1 if the Malones win that easily.

16. (2-0) Rio Stars (17)
The Stars finally get a challenger to test their mettle. The Bridges are coming to town! After the first week it seems they'll be in competition with the Ducks or Retirement Center Rodents for the last playoff spot.

17. (2-0) Ergodicity (22)
Two 3 point wins to start the season and knocking the Bobbers into 3rd place. Dragons is all upside down at the moment. I'm most excited for game 6 against Rio. That game will have playoff and relegation implications.

18. (1-1) BU Terriers (18)
Boston's season could be decided pretty early here. After a game against TOOL, they'll face off against the Blitz, Rio, and the Elephants. If they win, they are in the catbird seat for the playoffs. If they lose they are looking at relegation... Welcome back to Elite!

19. (1-1) Bracciano Lakers (23)
If I would have done a ranking after each game this team would have jumped to #1, but I had to bring them back down after a competitive loss to the Packers. They have all division rivals in a row so the Admirals pecking order will be established when I write next week.

20. (0-2) Hell Hounds (8)
Championship game hangover is real for the Hounds right now. Held the arch-rival Lions to fgs and still lost. This AC is not as forgiving and they will need those division wins to get back into the postseason.

21. (1-1) Norfolk Dumplings (24)
Dumplings starting much better this time around netting a much needed defeat of the Whitings and a super frustrating loss by a fumble to the Eagles. They get 3 of their next 4 against Dragons teams and a fairly important Bridges matchup in there as well. This team is a playoff darkhorse, hopefully that fumble isn't what keeps them out.

22. (2-0) Växjö Gladiators AFC (27)
One of the few 2-0 teams, we'll see if it's deserved as they get the Seahawks before starting an incredible streak of Ducks, Pirates, PR Chaser, Dragons, Malones, Ducks again, and TiCats. They'll need 2 of those games minimum to remain in the hunt.

23. (1-1) Letaidens (29)
Got an interception in the redzone with 30 seconds left to prevent the Mascots comeback and get their first Elite win. The Malones on Saturday will tell us if being in Elite next season is even a slim possibility.

24. (0-2) Free Agent Mascots (13)
Following in the Hounds hangover footsteps, the Mascots got crushed by the Magpies and then lost a close one to the newcomer Letaidens. The division is way tougher than last season, and they play 2 of them in the next week, and now with this start they can't afford to lose those games.

25. (0-2) Maykop Dynamos (20)
Probably not how the Dynamos envisioned the season starting, and in such a competitive division they find themselves in early trouble. Add in games against the Bridges and Sunrise Long Term Care coming up and this team could be looking at a 1-4 start.

26. (1-1) Peoples Republic of Yorkshire (26)
Here it is so early in the season. Hounds then Lions. Can the Yorkies do some damage in Claymore this time around?

27. (0-2) Leeds Celtics (21)
Tough start to Jonny's season as the Gladiators have now won 4 of the last 5 meetings. The next game against the Dynamos is surprisingly important for both teams as they need to avoid 0-3 with the remaining schedules.

28. (0-2) Istanbul Whitings (25)
Two close losses followed by two games expecting and we're looking at an 0-4 start. They'll need some division wins and some luck to avoid getting relegated.

29. (0-2) Kalapana Wild Thangs (28)
Almost beat Ergodicity, did not show up against the Eagles. It doesn't get easier with the next 2 games against PR Chaser and the TiCats. 0-4 is a tough hole to dig out of.

30. (1-1) GLADIATORS III (30)
They snuck by TOOL to prevent 0-16, but the rest of the schedule is pretty daunting. The TiCats demonstrated how large the gap is, I'm not sure there's enough time to close it.

31. (0-2) Mülheim Seahawks (31)
Two different Seahawks teams have shown up so far. One that gave a solid Rio team a run and one that got completely run out of the stadium by the Bridges. They'll need more of the former if they plan on avoiding relegation.

32. (0-2) TOOL (32)
Maynard couldn't quite pull off a win in one of his few shots at a victory this season, but he's probably okay with that and has already narrowed down which stud in this draft he wants. Hopefully it's better than last season's Elite draft.

Good luck everyone. Enjoy the warming weather and remember not to spread infectious diseases!

I think Ergodicity should be higher ranked than me. He has beaten #29 and #4 of this Power Rank while my Stars have beaten #32 and #31 (the last one on OT).
