It will be interesting to see how accurate your ranking is once the dust from the play off battles have settled. I think my ranking is accurate in that I am outside the top 10 and therefore have no business in the play offs. I will spend some time on game preparation though so who knows....

This game has unexpected surprises, sometimes (apparently) strong teams are defeated by (apparently) weak teams.

There are mainly 2 ways to know the potential of a team:
1- The salaries of the players and the coaches.
2- The Attack and Defense percentages.
Any alteration of these values is determined by the Manager, for better or for worse.

But generally there is a certain "logic" in the results. The teams that reach the Finals are usually the strongest.

Good luck to everyone!!

In my time I have seen many great upsets (back when I was in Thunder with different team) where at least twice a team that barely scraped into the play offs won the bowl and promotion to Elite.

Luck is involved but careful game planning and a good PB can make an average team great.

I am excited for these play offs (not for myself btw ).

Let me tell you, that this single thing is the worst indicator you can have, regarding team strenght. If your team is around 4,5-5 million in player wages and you are not competing to get into Elite, or in Elite already, you are doing something wrong. You can be unlucky once in a while, but an expensive roster can take you only so far, in itself.

There were always teams that had 7-11 million, or even higher salaries, for just players that never advanced anywhere, even struggle to be in D1 consistently. I'm really bad with certain elements regarding PBs, don't get me wrong, but I'm keeping my salaries pretty low until I can figure out the kinks I have.

I know it's really hard to sell/release players you are attached to, I know it better than most I think, but sometimes you have to draw the line. Overpaying mediocrity will never get your team anywhere and don't even get me started on the terrible franchise contract deals I see every single day on the Mag. I'm always shaking my head.

It's true, ONLY salaries does not determine the strength of a team, it is one more indicator.

But the top 50 RZA teams have in common a good Salary level and good Attack-Defense percentages.

And without a doubt that they manage Contracts well, they have a good Playbook, a good Training Plan,...

I love what I'm reading: I'm only three seasons in and I still have a lot of doubts about many aspects of the game.

I see that some of you veterans are still not very clear about what is most important to have a good team. And that motivates me even more.

And by the way, I'm also very excited about the playoffs

See, this is what makes RZA great. There is so much unknown that it allows for many theories to co-exist next to each other. On top of that, American Football is so complex that it's hard to figure out how good a player really is.

Does that LB you have, have 9 sacks as he continuously faces backup DL?

You can get a peek into the RZA kitchen by playing scrimmages as they get a more detailed commentary, especially on the line.

Going back to the question, it is my observation that just buying players doesn't get you into Elite. You need more, top of 1 divisions is brutal. I have played RZA since s23 I think and I've been to Elite once!

I think Pete never won the Elite league either, as the sole dev of the game. That says a lot about how unpredictable and unknown the game still is, I think.

On the other side of the argument is like the Willemstad Bridges as an example, a team founded in S35, went up to Elite and won back-to-back seasons there as well, instantly.

I think many managers have scouted that team. His continued performance at the top of RZA shows that this was not a lucky shot (although his first Elite bowl play off run was pretty ridiculous).

Pardon If I pop in on the Conversation.
I Have been Around for about as Long as You have (Although I have a Less Active Division) therefore I am not as Corrupted by Others Opinions and Have a Clearer Understanding of Team Strength in Game. You see, A Good Offense is Only as Good as It's O-Line. With a Bad one. The QB gets Sacked and the Running Back Has no Holes, No matter how good he is. On the Defensive side of the Ball it is Murkier. However I tend to Prefer Having your D-Line Beating the Opponents O-Line because that Messes Up everything. While Linemen Aren't Everything. They Enable everyone to do their Job
