Hey guys,

Sorry for my absence without notification.

I had a serious task in front of me, and the sign at this picture means, I was able to finish this task, successful!

Yes, I was invited to take part in one of the famous Classic Car Rallyes, the so called Silvretta in Austria.

I was the driver of a Lada, which was built in 1983 in the former USSR. The 60 horsepower vehicle - built like a tank - has served me and my co-pilot very well, without a single technical hickup.

We finished at rank 75 out of 170.

The whole rallye was never about speed, but keep timings. It was our very first experience like this, and due Corona there were some restrictions in place, which meant we had no driver training.

Our best result was a .04 seconds difference, which was just enough to be 8th best at that challenge.

This picture shows our "tank", standing first on a Pass in about 1894 meters high over sealevel. There is not much left from 60 horsepower, due the slightly less oxygen in the air. However, we stood first on a traffic light, and all those overpowered vehicles from Porsche and Mercedes waiting for us to leave the mountain! We were literally a pain in the ass for them. I kind of liked the fact to be the leading vehicles with cars worth several millions ... behind me!

We are pleased with rank 75 over all. It was an honor, a pleasure. The roads and scenery in Austrians Vorarlberg and Tirol are marvelous.

We were quite happy to see the black white flag at the end, and our very own "Boxenluder" was able to welcome us at the finish line after 3 great days on the road with our Lada.

If you ask why I was able to do it? The company I am working for almost 20 years now is called YellowFox. We are sponsoring those classic rallyes for many years now. From time to time employees are allowed to drive one out of 2 cars. The other one is a Opel Manta from 1973, btw.

At this page you watch a few videos, more are coming up during the next few days.

Great stuff Pete, those old Ladas were tough cars!

I used to compete in motorsport, the last time was in 2013. My brother was my navigator, and he also took part in a couple of 'Wacky Rallies' across Europe, though they were in bargain basement cars, not historical classics.

This was our best photo from our competitive days:

That's awesome, I'd constantly be distracted by the flapping yellow tails and end up in a ditch.

Believe me, the yellow tails were the least critical distraction at that rallye
