Why do you think it was "dayform" which caused your loss?

We are both experienced managers, both going for wins, similar wage bills, both high ELO ratings.

Yet, 1 QB has 74% completed and 385 yards and mine 58% and 158, only 37% of the game time, none existent home advantage?

What is it if not dayform?

I can't explain why these things are happening with 7.5 years experience, I need someone to tell me it's something other than random luck

I wrote that already somewhere else.

If two teams meet who are quite equal to each other, some things cancel out themselves during calculation, other raise the outcome of little differences. I do not believe dayform is wrong in itself. And of course there is some luck involved, and of course there is some randomness involved as well. From thousands of games I have analyzed during the last 12 years, I learned one thing: there is no single cause for a loss or win.

Dayform is just a single factor out of many. I repeat what I wrote before: I do not believe dayform is the single cause for a loss or a win. It mus be 2 or 3 years now, when I received some complaints like yours, and run some simulation on disabled "dayform". And I have seen results spreading across the whole expected spectrum. To give you an idea: your coaching staff, as example, influences the sim outcome much more than dayform does.

I like to add something to this discussion.

Difference between teams are like 10% up or down in favor for defense or offense for one or other team.

Big upset would be when you loose against team that is like 30% weaker then you.

But even then, those kind of things happen.

Take those two Giants Super bowls. Both times they were underdog, both times they had great run of results.

And you seen them in PO in last 15 years how many times?

No matter the dayform, no matter the frustration, if we lose, our opponent did something better than us, and deserves appropriate congratulations.

That's what sport is, and what a sport simulation-like should be.

We can debate as much as we want about how to change the game, but please let's not forget that.

Pete, this result is an insult to my sanity. I implore you to switch the random day form off, it's ruining games. We want to go MAN VS. MAN not chance vs. No chance, or luck vs. No luck. What is the point in spending an hour scouting your opponent, getting it right and lose heavily.... if I didn't bother scouting, if I win, it wasn't my doing, if I lose I could blame the engine....

Where is the fun?

I fully understand your frustration and had been at the same point, where you are. Some losses are harder to accept than others. My conclusion was not to waste any more time on scouting as I believe is is giving you less often the key advantage to win a game than the dayform does.

Some of my worst losses over the last few seasons have been when I've made specific changes in my game plan and depth chart to counter the other team.

I tend to agree that randomness seems to play a larger role in this game, and certainly dayform favored my QB today. I had games last season where my QB threw 4 INTs and completed about 50% of passes, so a 75% completion, 0 INT day against a really good team seems to indicate something was working in my favor.

And to prove I'm not exaggerating, my QB throws for 58% and 3 INTs in the very next game.

We had an electric first couple games to start the season. Bridges proved why they are #1. Mr. Pumpkin looks to take over Admirals. Monarchs went 0-4 in week 2. The Ducks, Malones, and Blitz all starting 0-2 in the NC.

"Where do the young up and comers rank?" The Wildcats don't look like they've got enough to compete in Claymore quite yet, while the Attack dogs had a no show against the Bridges. The Moors in Dragons are a possibility, they play the Elephants on Tuesday to see if they are legit.

1. (2-0) Willemstad Bridges (1)
Bridges get a strong win against the Pirates, now line up against the Malones. Bridges have one of the more difficult AC schedules with Ticats/Chaser and the Packers as a bonus game.

2. (2-0) TigerCats (2)
Skeetz starts right where he left off, driving out the Blitz with a huge 4th quarter. Ticats/Bridges in week 16 to determine the 1 seed? Then again in the AC championship?

3. (1-1) Salt City Pirates (3)
Win against Malones, fall to Bridges. Kraken on Tuesday to establish continued Monarchs dominance.

4. (2-0) Dumbarajko Elephants (5)
Starts out with an impressive win against the Blitz then needed a last second TD and OT to sneak a victory against Tampa Bay. Which Elephants are going to show up over the next 6 weeks? Chaser, Moors, Kraken, Bonecrushers, Bobbers, and Ticats make quite the test.

5. (1-1) Chelt Nam Bobbers (6)
Not a great start for the Bobbers. At this pace, it's quite possible they start 2-4 with games against the Elephants, Ravens, and MR. Pumpkin's upstart Ducks. They won't, and the second half of the schedule is significantly easier so nothing to worry about yet.

6. (2-0) PR Chaser (8)
Chaser ended last season hot, and started this one the same way. Can they keep it up against the Elephants? How important is next Saturday's game against the Bridges?

7. (2-0) Peoples Republic of Yorkshire (12)
The Lions won the first 5 games against the Yorkies. Yorkies have started their own streak winning the last 2 establishing themselves as the Claymore favorite.

8. (0-2) The Beautiful French Ducks (4)
Kanar is frustrated with his team's performance, but announcing how to beat his team probably won't go well in the long run (as the Yorkies proved.) With Vaxjo playing well and the Ravens back in the division can they afford it?

9. (2-0) Vรคxjรถ Vikings AFC (16)
Vaxjo has turned on the turnover machine and has really capitalized on it. 2 Big wins against playoff hopefuls including a huge comeback win against the Ravens has them in a really nice early spot. Ducks on Tuesday can solidify it even further.

10. (1-1) Raven Loonies (15)
With Vaxjo getting the early jump, tomorrow's game against the Ducks is looking huge. Ravens got a very good win against the Malones after a couple late fumbles gave away the first game.

11. (0-2) Home Malones (7)
The Malones start the season in a surprising 0-2 hole. They'll likely be fine with one of the easier schedules, but they travel to the Bridges tomorrow. Starting 0-3 isn't ideal, but at least the rest of Monarchs isn't running away yet.

12. (1-1) Green Mark Packers (10)
3 of the first 4 against division rivals. Ducks took the first, can they afford to fall behind early and rely on winning the last 2 games of the season?

13. (1-1) Diorite Lions (11)
The Lions need the next 2 to remain the clear #2 in Claymore. Will that be enough to snag a playoff spot?

14. (1-1) BobBoy Magpies (13)
Magpies look to get back on track after a disappointing showing against Chaser. Division rivals Packers and Ducks are on deck. With the way the last 6 games look, they can't afford a 1-3 start.

15. (1-1) Space Kraken (14)
It was a mixed bag in week one for the Squid. A solid showing followed by a turnover filled disaster. Pirates Tuesday will be a good barometer if this team is actually ready to compete.

16. (2-0) Motol Ducks (21)
The Fighting Pumpkins are looking good. This week is quite the challenge with the Bobbers and Magpies to be the team to beat in Admirals.

17. (0-2) San Diego Blitz (9)
"Blitz v Dumba in week one. That'll set off Galaxy quickly." And what a start it was. Steve will need to win the rematch if he wants to regain control of the division. He'll get right with a couple gimmes before facing Ravens next Tuesday in what could be very important in the wildcard race.

18. (2-0) Moraira Moors (25)
Moors take down another perennial Elite team in the Wolves. We find out a little on Tuesday against the Elephants, but we won't see how they stack up in Dragons until the Bobbers at the end of the season.

19. (1-1) AS Roma Wolves (22)
Couldn't quite complete the comeback against the Moors but scored a solid win against the Dumplings. Tuesday against the Packers will show where they fit in the Admiral hierarchy.

20. (1-1) Norfolk Dumplings (17)
Dumplings started solid with a defeat of the Bonedomers but the Wolves got the better of them in game 2. Tuesday's game against the Ticats will show how close they are to a WC team.

21. (1-1) Highland Wildcats (18)
A nice rebound after a rude Elite welcoming. Yorkies and Lions are up next. They'll know how far away they are from the Claymore crown by Tuesday.

22. (1-1) Vicious Attack Dogs (20)
"Do they have enough to compete in Elite or do they need the losing experience to come back in 46 to do it right?" Game one against the Bridges suggests they'll need some experience before they are a legit competitor. We'll see if the Ticats tomorrow can confirm.

23. (1-1) Poznan Knights (26)
The Knights find themselves atop Monacrhs after pulling off a monster upset in week one taking down the Bobbers but couldn't keep up with the Attack Dogs to follow it up. They'll stick in the conversation if they can get a win vs the Dumplings or Ravens.

24. (1-1) BoneCrushers (24)
5 of the next 7 games are against playoff teams. It really will all come down to if they can steal a couple games from the Ticats or Chaser.

25. (1-1) Tampa Bay Bandits (28)
Tampa is 8 seconds from a 2-0 start after a wild 3 minute drive and last second TD tore out their little Bandit hearts. Big week with the Moors rematch and Bobbers to see if this team can avoid relegation.

26. (0-2) Ergodicity (19)
Bobbers grabbed a late 4th down TD to steal a win away and leave Ergodicity 0-2. With the Wolves and fighting Pumpkins on deck can Dissolve avoid 0-4?

27. (0-2) Saker Falcons (23)
Falcons score a big win against Chaser, but that was in Supercup. Other 2 games were 1 score losses. The Falcons are going to need a win against the Lions or Yorkies before they find themselves out of the race with 12 games to go.

28. (1-1) Mongolian Prairie Weasels 2 (31)
A surprise comeback win gives the Weasels some revenge from the Galaxy bowl and their first Elite victory.

29. (0-2) Bretzfeld Bandits (27)
Just a couple weeks after dominating the Weasels the Bandits fall in the Elite rematch. They'll need a hot streak to get back into contention.

30. (0-2) Ghost of Bautzen (29)
The Ghosts have had a rude Elite awakening so far, and the schedule doesn't look to get any more forgiving.

31. (1-1) Hainaut Gamecocks (30)
The Gamecocks barely snuck by a soon to be bot Juggernaut, it's shaping up to be a long season if that wasn't an anomaly.

32. (0-2) Juggernaut (32)
Running out of time to log back in. Also to sign half a team.

Good luck!

Well done PJ. 17 first downs canโ€™t win games. Impressive defense.

In S42 I lost three times in a row against you with an overall point difference of 9 points.
I think more than something went in my favour tonight.
A third yds conversion rate of 0/10 it seems impossible to achieve otherwise.
Running against your defense, is really tough so I tried to pass more often than usual and again I was tremendously lucky achieving a 78% of completition rate.
If my QB had had even a standard performace, the result would have been definitely different.
You got a bad day, maybe in the worst moment, but you have an hell of a team, you are the NC champion and even starting 0-3 doesn't mean nothing, the season is at the beginning and the journey is still very long.
