Hi Pete.

In today's game Pizti Beltzak vs. Bulldozer (Game ID: 100954151) there is a "curious" (not to say impossible) play.

6:25 3 and 8 to go on own 5, Dakhil Sleiman (OC) snaps the ball to Alak Edwards (QB), hands off to Vitali Novák (FB/R), this seems to be a run over the right end, Kristian Frederiksen (DE/L) breaks through, Jørgen Stöckli (TE/R) blocks, Vitali Novák (FB/R) tackled by Jerrod Epps (DE/R), forward progress: 1 yards (Shotgun 2 WR vs. 4-3-4) more

5:58 Marinus Braber (K) kicks the ball for the field goal, 111 yard field goal missed

5:47 touchdown

5:47 Ball spotted on the 15, Stefano Fröhlich (K) kicks the ball for the PAT, PAT is good

A 111 yds FG attempt and a TD following?

It doesn't have importance because it's a friendly game, but check it out, please.

Hm, this is somehow a situation not happening in real life. No team would kick FG from its own endzone, right? I would think of it more like kind of an exploit than anything else. The rules tell POS change on the spot of the kick. This means possession in the endzone. Touchdown at snap. Does the NFL have any ruling for this kind of situation?

Just curious, why did you try 111 yards FG?

By the rule if you miss FG opponent gets the ball on the spot where kick was taken, so in this case it is in your end zone.
So if they get the ball there it is a touchdown.

But I am absolutely 100% with no doubt sure that this has never happen in real life

Answered at the same time.

I believe that game engine is correct, like fumble recovery in opponent end zone which results in TD.
In this case first snap in end zone = TD.

In real life I think it would be a safety. It is kind of a turnover on downs inside your endzone. But I am not sure about that.

Yes, Touchdown or safety. I tend to asume it to be a touchdown, since it is a turnover, and the O has possession by rule once the FG was missed.

Safety is when defense tackles offense in offense endzone. Or there is a fault by offense in offense endzone. In both cases ball is in offense possession.

If the defense make INT or recover fumble in offense endzone it is change of position and it is a TD.

In this case it is not a tackle it is change of position, so I will say it would be a TD.

It is a Safety:
(a) if the offense commits a foul in its own end zone or
(b) when an impetus by a team sends the ball behind its own goal line, and the ball is dead in the end zone in its
possession or the ball is out of bounds behind the goal line.

I think (b) applies here.
