This is not a bug but I think a flaw in the setup of the engine.
https://redzoneaction.org/football/index.php?page=yourteam&subpage=matchshowstats_o&matchid=101017582 QB gets injured and random players Complete 9 from 9 throws. This is either a 1 in a million shot or something that can be exploited in the game. I have seen similar onomalies with people using random players as backup for injured RBs. They all run once and end up with a higher average than their RB had. Just thought I would bring it to your attention. Great game! |

Just to point something weird in the same game, 2nd quarter:
6:51 2 and 4 to go on opp 40, Duncan Derrick (OC) snaps the ball to Issa Brito (P), Issa Brito (P) selected Nadim Ali (WR/R) as target, Ilian Borimirov (MLB) seems to go for the blitz, Jefferson Templeton (DE/R) breaks through, this outer screen right pass goes to the receiver, who catches the ball, Nadim Ali (WR/R) tackled by Mackenzie Haig (CB/L), forward progress: 9 yards, New first down Here the backup QB appears as a punter. In all other plays the backup appears as QB even not being his original position. |

Thanks for pointing that out.
I guess if they weren't getting a penalty for playing out of position that would explain some/most (9 from 9 with passing less than 20) of it. If they were getting a penalty IMO it needs to much bigger. Last edited on 2022-08-29 23:12:20 by gooroo |

Štepán Berbecar (QB) is the QB but was injured for this game. Damiano Dal Bo (QB) is the backup QB, and that's his natural position, Damiano Dal Bo (QB) was the only QB (natural position) in this game and got injured during a play. Then, without any QB on the DC, 7 players were randomly picked as passing-QB. Also played as QB in rushing plays : Anthony Grey (CB) Elias Spagnolo (RB) Oscar Volpi (OL) Anthony Grey (CB) Last edited on 2022-08-30 01:11:52 by Drogon |

Yes. that's a feature of the game.
If no player on the QB position is on the deapth chart in the game available, because of injury or fatigue or whatever, the engine s e l e c t random players. What else should the game do? And sometimes, those players do have good games. I has an injured Kicker and (in this case on purpose, since he had the best kicking skill, still under 20 value) a TE did kick 11 consecutive field goals and is still by record holder in FG made percentage. He is also my negative record holder in PAT made percentage at 75%, 12 of 16. In such small numbers, stuff can look strange, but in larger numbers the 'quality' of such players do become obvious. My starting QB has almost 24K plays. I'm sure your placeholder will not have such great stats in 24K plays. |

You have missed the point which is that players out of position should be penalised more.
Why have a backup QB when my linesman can fill the void? It preserves the integrity of the game. Last edited on 2022-08-30 09:01:27 by gooroo |

Pete says it's not a bug, so it's how it is supposed to be.
The question is why. Could it be - because the injured QB without a reasonable backup could completely screw up the score? If that's the reason, I wonder what could be a better solution. What would a real team do in such situation? I know too little of IRL football but I'd guess - skip passes completely, play low. Could that be a reasonable solution in RZA? I mean, in case of no dedicated QB - switch to <a list of tactical solutions here>. |

A New Outbreak Leaves a Broncos Rookie in an Awkward Position: Quarterback
Receiver Kendall Hinton was a last resort fill-in when four Denver Broncos quarterbacks were ruled ineligible to play in Sunday’s game because they’d been exposed to the coronavirus. Before Sunday, Kendall Hinton hadn’t taken a snap for the Denver Broncos at quarterback — not in a game, not in a practice, not in the recesses of his imagination — for a pretty logical reason: He is not a quarterback. Once, back at Wake Forest, he was. But as a junior he moved to wide receiver, a role he held until Saturday, when four Denver quarterbacks were ruled ineligible to play because they’d been exposed to coronavirus, causing Hinton to start cramming for the first N.F.L. game of his career, at a position he hadn’t played in more than two years. If that happens, you did not properly maintain your DC or did de3cide to carry just one QB. There is nothing wrong to be penalized in a managing game when you do a mistake. Far worse penalties hit you, when you drive your finances into the red. Imo the reason is that skills are just one part of the equation on any given play. If daily form factor, offensive play vs defensive formation, morale and TC and all the factors that I did forget all are positive, then the Punter could have a pretty decent drive at QB. However, if the Punter plays QB for a longer time, probably bad things would happen |
