So I really hate the bidding system in this game as it opens the door for massive errors that could literally ruin a team.

I went to bid 2.5m on a player, but accidentally bid 25m on this player. That's more money than I can afford, but there's no way for me to stop it or pull the offer? Is there someone I can message that can reverse this bid? Or at least the excessive bid that's over where the current offer is? This is literally something that will force me to quit the game if I go bankrupt over a typo error that's irreversible.

Yep, it is a think twice click once thing. Maybe there are more convenient ways to do it, but this one is mine for about 13 years now.

Hi Pete,

It is possible to change the upper limit for your bid because you can raise it. Would it be very difficult to change the upper limit check to only be higher than your current bid (assuming that you are leading the bidding otherwise there is no issue) rather than against your current upper limit?

Example1, current situation. If you put in a bid of 4 million and the current winning bid is you with 2 million and you decide that you want to change the upper limit to 20 million, the game will allow that, no problem.

Example 2, not currently allowed. You put in a bid of 20 million and the current bid raises to 2 million as that's the top of the competition. You think "oh dear, on second thoughts that's a bit much" and so put in 4 million. This doesn't change your top bid from 20 million as it's less.

Does it create an issue moving your upper limit between 4 million and 20 million in either direction if the current winning bid is 2 million or is it a simple change?

Changing the currently leading bid for the player (2 million in the examples above) would be a pain altogether - where do you go back to, how many coaches have not bid because the bid was above their limit, etc., so I am absolutely not talking about that situation.

Best regards,

JohnHW

No problem, just wondering.

Even if you hit the wrong numbers and then accept without really looking closely - I do check to see that I have the right scale of number, 200,000 or 2,000,000 or 20,000,000 - you still need other teams to push up the price so you are very, very unlikely to ever pay 20M for any player, even if you put that in every time.

There are plenty of games out there that would just commit the 20M as your bid so what we have here right now is perfectly reasonable and is a much better solution than that it would be in any of those !

Hi Pete,
other suggestion for this problem.

You enter a bid for a player. Afterwards a window comes up and asks: "Do you really want to bid 10,000,000?" If you say “no” here, everything will be deleted and you can place a new bid. However, if you enter “Yes”, the bid will be “sharp”. Would that make sense and be possible?

Thanks for the suggestion. Right now this problem seems so small compared to the number of bids, that I won't spend the time do so. Maybe if there is more time available on my side.

However, a bid is a bid is a bid. If you are in the casino and put money on the table, there is no one asking you "really a hundred instead of 10 bucks?". So to me it seems people should be more vigilant what they enter for a bid. One a sidenote: there is prrof that people start to ignore such dialogue boxes. I can tell from the numer of caught "too high" negotiation bids we see during one season.
