I just recognized, that there is an inconsistancy on the position naming and the depth chart position (and manual description).
For every other position the name is the same on roster and depth chart, like QB, WR, TE and so on. OK, for the specific liner postions there is also a discepancy, but I think regarding RB/HB this can be fixed and does no harm. We have RBs on the roster and the are only on the right position, if the play HB or KR. We have FB, but they are only right at FB. So my suggestion is, rename the RBs to HBs on the roster and all is fine. |

When you access the Games subtab; the browser has them titled 'Matches'
I honestly like that about it |

A sidenote: when I started developing RZA, there was a discussion if it should be matches or games. I was calling it matches, because a game for me was something like RZA is. When you play it, you are a gamer. However, native speakers voted for renaming the matches into Games.
I have still no idea what the difference is. |

Oxford Dictionary :
A match is a sports event where people or teams compete against each other. A game is an activity that you do to have fun, often one that has rules and that you can win or lose; the equipment for a game - - - - Thus Pete is (as always) correct. RZA is a game and each single match-up of one team versus another is ... a match! If only English was a formal language then it would be simple; however, vernacular allows huge variance. Thus while match is formally correct, game is useable. It's actually much harder to be 'wrong' in English than one would imagine. |

British vs American sports lingo essentially Pitch/field Draw/tie Nil/zero Table/standings League Winner/playoffs Trophy/bowl University/youths (little bit of a stretch) Conferences+divisions/rounds Form/record Squad/roster U18s/varsity U16s/junior varsity U14s/freshmen Foul/penalty Transfer/trade Budget/salary cap Youth intake/draft+recruiting Club/franchise Talent/potential Wonderkid/stud (not sure on the American term tbh) |

The popular phrase for "stud" lately seems to be "generational talent." Somehow every draft has two or three generational talents. Not sure how that is possible

Hmm.. great dictionary, @Rurik. You seem to have missed a couple( a pair?), though:
rugby / football football / soccer Just kidding. But seriously, I wonder what's the origin of "football" on _the other_ ( ) side of the Atlantic. To distinguish from playing the ball not on foot but, say, on horseback? ps. Also wonder what's the take on the subject from the guys (we don't have any gals yet, do we? ) Down-Under. Would a third column be neccesary? A mix of the 1st and the 2nd? Last edited on 2024-04-20 06:22:18 by jpnwrt |
