My team made it to Elite and I should be celebrating, but a deep-down feeling is telling me this season is going to be a total disaster.
I don't see my team winning more than 3 or 4 games, and I expect my fanbase to dwindle week after week. At the end of it all, I'll be out 50-60 million (all while competing against the top teams!). It's more profitable to win against bots in Dragons 1 than lose to the best in Elite. Considering these circumstances, I REFUSE to play in Elite. What are my options? |

You should think about that before conference game and lose it if you don't want to play against top teams. Now it is too late to regret about your decision |

Nothing you can do, if you do not consider to go BOT with the team (which I assume you don't want to).
Bowl participants go to Elite and then you have to fight through the season. Some in the same situation did - play the best they could and did swallow the eventually financial deficit. Moral loss can be worked against with the player lounge facility and maybe with a favorable schedule in Supercup. - decide to cut already the retiring players early and maybe even likely to retire in the future players and concentrate on the next season. By that the wage amount gets reduced and even a losing season on the field might be a positive season in terms of finances - decided to gut the team almost completely and build for the next 10 seasons with a very small team, which means, 0-16, but a very positive season on the balance AND a very high draft pick. But elite seasons are very much depended on the schedule you get. You could end up with a favorable one, or a brutal one. And also it can happen that one or even both teams in your division have to get into rebuilding mode and you survive better than anticipated. |

Does attendance go down if the home team loses a lot of matches? If so, is 50-60 million a reasonable estimate of the drop in income compared to a season where a team wins most of their games? |

The overall finance does depend heavily on your sponsor and your supercup success on top of the Elite games. And you get at least 1, with a high propability 2 Champ of Champ Cup games, a level 1 team does not have. I had 2 trips to Elite in the past few seasons, both for just 1 season and both not very successful, last quite bad, but not 0-16 and the compare to the season BEFORE the Elite season, which does obviously include a trip to the bowl game was not that much. Season 52 I won the conference and went to Elite, season balance was +18 mio, with 183 mio income on tickets vs 147 mio out on wages players and 22 mio in wages coaches. Season 53 I was in Elite and won 5 games, season balance was -15 mio, with 153 mio income on tickets vs 137 mio on players wages + 23 mio on coaches wages. That was hard, main reason for the big difference was player transfer and the less income by the playoff runs. Season 54 I won the conference again and went to Elite, season balance was +10 mio, with 171 mio in tickets vs 138 players + 23 coaches. Season 55 I was in Elite and the season was bad, 3 wins, late in the season. Balance was + 4 mio, with tickets 138 mio against 118 mio on players and 21 mio on coaches. I had initiated a good roster rebuild in 55 and also a positive transfer balance to secure the positive overall balance. But overall you see the numbers are not as far apart as you think they can be. I had bad luck (or bad management skills, whatever you like) on Supercup on some season, a deep run there can mitigate a lot on the income loss. Bad luck in both competitions do of course lead less ticket income. Season 52 ticket income had 3 rounds Supercup + league playoffs to the bowl. So there could have been even more income possible. |

That is true. If you miss the League playoffs, you can start at -5M for that season. If you are eliminated in the 1st round playoffs in the SuperCup, it's again a big loss of money.
Don't forget that in Elite, you have a higher chance in the MediaCenter to be 100% so that means 2.875M each week, so that will be at least 125.000$ more each week compared to the D1 league in which some teams do have problems and you never get to 100%, sometimes not even 90%. This season all Elite teams got 80.5M from the MediaCenter, so that is 30.5M profit. So there is some money there to. And, as Jack said, you should count every $$$ that you have and compare it with what the season could bring for you, because you can have a long run in the SuperCup or you can be lucky and play at least 2 matches in the Champ of Champions. Your Team & Coach salary is high enough at 7M, so you will need some good games in the SuperCup and CoC to break even. |

It's all part of the growing pains and it's actually good news, even though you will probably not have a ton of fun in league play this season. You never know though. You may surprise yourself.
Be excited. This may be a "dead" season, but your team is improving and now you will get some experience playing the best that RZA has to offer. If you do relegate after this next season, you will be stronger the next time you come to Elite and you will know exactly what to expect. Ignore the league record. Enjoy the process. At least for this season. No excuses next time!!! |

I understand what you're explaining. I've been playing RZA since season 1 (in 3 different stages). I start with a team, take it to Elite, and start over. I have fun watching my team grow, not so much competing with the best where details come into play that force me to invest too much time.
RZA is a great game, no doubt, and it's been part of my weekly routine for a long time. But my appreciation for the game doesn't prevent me from seeing its flaws, and this one, the income when you win and the losses when you lose (whether in Dragons 2 or Elite) is one of them. It's not normal for a league of 16 bots to have the field full every game and for fans to disappear in Elite because you don't win. It's too extreme. There should be a compensating factor at the top and bottom. I know it's very easy to say and very difficult to do, plus Pete is too busy with his work (like almost everyone, fortunately) to fix these little problems. I'm not going to quit the game over this nonsense, I'll play in Elite next season and soon I'll start my 4th stage with a new team from the bottom again. As I've been doing for years. Thanks for your input! Long live RZA! Quim |

It always amazes me to see how many different approaches you can take to this kind of game
