This season will be a special one for us.
The HAMBURG SEA LIONS joined this fine competition in S48 at the Admirals league D2 level (it was the second to last season before the second level was closed). That was in Week 12, so our true RZA Birthday will be our home game against Gilets Jaunés on Nov. 26th. This season being special does not mean it will be a surefire enjoyable one, though. Crucial members of the success in these past seasons have retired at the end of S57, first and foremost the leader of the squad QB Nicolò Stanzetti. He will be sorely missed. As will be FB Roberto Mora and TE Sherman Schmidt, both players that were longtime fellow SEA LIONS players to their QB Stanzetti and contributed at least the same at their respective position as the trigger man did. As 25 yo QB Garry Carrington still needs a little room to grow to fully take over, former Missouri Misery QB Navdeep Pawan was acquired midway through S57. So he is already fully integrated into the team. He does, though, also lack the experience that Stanzetti had. Our play will be a bit different from seasons past because of that. We’ll have to rely heavily on our defense to keep us in games, as we’ll be even less likely to outscore opponents than in the last two seasons (like we ever did at this level  ).
Beyond that offseason competition against All Star teams has shown that there’s a major problem defending the pass. We obviously missed to get the right players ready to step up as our star players got older, and now we’re facing a situation in which none of the players in the defensive backfield seems to be ready for contention in the Elite. The schedule makers did do us some good, though. Yes, we have to play the AC East and the NC East again. But other than the last seasons we do not have to play the hardest teams from the North and the South of the NC for a change, which is nice. As always we deal with what’s given to us, we’ll try to make the best of every game that we play. And maybe we can make some hay somewhere down the line to keep it close until the end. This will be an expensive season. This sucker that was responsible of making cheap contracts failed in quite an absolute way. But he got a new car and home, so ...
However, making the decision when to use MOTY was easy, 2024-11-19 it is  |
