I am far away from asking about your political opinion, far away from asking who you vote for, but I would like to know from our fellow americans: do you go and vote? And if not, what exactly prevents you from doing so?

I'm going to vote today, though I don't live in a 'swing state' so my vote won't really make a difference for the presidential decision. My votes will be more important for more local elections.

But since I like doing the prediction thing:
I think Trump is going to narrowly win, but it will not go smoothly. It will be fought over and not readily certified, and many of the major cities will see riots and protests which will largely go unchecked, and uncriticized by the major news outlets. Also, there will be more assassination attempts on Trump's life.

This won't happen, but for the short term welfare of the American people, it would be best if the election were not even close one way or the other. Half the country would be disappointed, but at least we wouldn't have the same strife that we're likely going to see over the next month or so.
There's been far too much animosity between people ever since covid, (especially since Trump was the man at the time and he is very polarizing.) Hopefully we can slowly move towards more civility, but I'm not holding my breath on that one...

Great, thank you (for both voting and your answer). Let's just hope you are totally wrong with your prediction in terms of civil unrest, and the US citizens get a president who is ready to carry this huge responsibility in a civil manner.

Voted in California, which isn't a swing state either.

In California, voting is really easy. I went to the poll my very first time and have voted absentee via mail since. So weeks ago, I voted from my living room while watching my RZA game simulate. Mailed in my ballot and then I get a confirmation via e-mail and text.

Watching the results come in now - - looks like Harris needs the blue wall (Michigan, Wisconsin & Pennsylvania) to break for her or Trump will win. But it's looking unlikely...

I always vote here in Indiana, although the result in the state usually is not in doubt. Maybe 2 times in 60 years Indiana surprised people with who they voted for. 4 years ago i went to vote as soon as they opened on election day, waited 1 and a half hours. This year i went a few hours after the polls opened, and only waited 20-30 minutes.

I agree with Steve, looks like the election result is all but done as of 1am eastern time.

For voting, despite not being in the swing state.
(...) for the last 2 sentences. Not the American, me, but we've had a lot of that animosity in Poland for several years now, and it only serves well the enemy nearby, who are more than happy to see their EU neighbours sink in the divisions in the society. I have a feeling the division in the US would be an even bigger prey. Hopefully Americans are too smart to give themselves to them on a platter of mutual hatred.
